Film Thread

I’d sort of thought that he was dressed in a particular way, but wasn’t 100% until I also read some stuff online.

Not sure where it’s quite going with the Jimmy thing. Can Garland make it work? It’s possible within the universe the film is set in because nothing happened after 2002, so someone could theoretically revere a ‘quirky’ pop culture character from the 80s - because the truth would never have come out. A ballsy move if that’s what they’re doing though!

Yeah I definitely think that’s what they’re going for. From interviews I’ve seen regarding part 2 it’s going to be a lot more focused on evil.

I don’t reckon they’ll explicitly mention Saville or go any deeper with the reference though

Just watched it.
LOVED IT.
Def interested to see where they go with that ending.

Went to watch Sinners today. Didn’t know anything about it, hadn’t seen the trailer, I just thought the cast looked good and it was a cheap ticket. For some reason I thought it was going to be a period type drama. My mistake…

Pretty good though

I didn’t think it quite stuck the landing - the ending felt unresolved and tacked on, but everything up to that point was really fun

It had me at riverdancing vampires.

Sinners was brilliant. Doesn’t take itself too seriously and I think that’s why it worked so well for me. That and the previously mentioned irish dancing.

Went to see Blade Runner Final Cut on a massive screen last night. Sent me down a font rabbit hole and this site is a nerd’s dream:

That dude’s website is incredible, the stuff about Alien and the computer keyboards etc is rad.
Should get his book really, but I’m not sure it’s available in the UK, only very expensively from the US.
Related-ish: I also want this book/mag about the Andor vfx
(Insert pic of Homer shouting NERD)

Funny, I got an email this morning about possibly designing a poster for a Blade Runner event, and then I see this, which is right up my street.

Might have to re-watch it tonight now

Immediately think of Bobier in One Step Beyond and Jon West from Art Bars. It’s like time travelling listening to that album

I’ll be interested to see this, especially as it’s Duncan Jones behind it

And Janoski on a Transworld.

Would never have predicted Rogue Trooper as the next 2000AD property to get a film treatment. I hope Gunnar, Bagman and Helm are in it.

Just found the amazing Wake in Fright is streaming for free here:

Wake in Fright (Outback) 1971 : United Artist : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive?

Can’t recommend it highly enough if anyone hasn’t seen it.
