Watched Black Panther last night (had never seen a Marvel film before that) and it was shiiiiiiittteeee. Proper confused at points and generally bored out my nut.
John Wickâs dad, the movie!
Last marvel film watched properly was Spiderman, the Tobey Maguire one. And iron man. Think I saw fantastic 4 on a plane at some point but didnât pay attention. Enjoyed Spiderman and iron man was good for a bit of childish explosions etc. But I get so lost when people talk about avengers and shit because thereâs this whole universe that I donât know. Sometimes think of doing a marathon to see what all the fuss is about, but I assume I wonât enjoy it much.
Yeah, I started to watch WandaVision then realised three episodes in that I needed to know their whole Marvel Universe back stories from the films to get any of it. I wasnât happy that I had wasted my time.
Yeah same here! I really enjoyed the first 3 then realised, shit, I have no prior knowledge of any of this and gave up. The set up was great though.
Mad bit right at the end of Black Panther where some random ponytailed gormless buff white guy youâve never seen before emerges from a tent and and stares wistfully into the distance at fuck all.
Thatâs the final shot of the film.
Turns out heâs âan important character from the Marvel universeâ, meaning Iâm supposed to poo my pants in a âworlds collide!â kinda way, but muggins here is none the wiser so I just went âwha-?â and it cut to black.
theyâre all shite.
Yeah you got to watch the whole lot, homie with the hair was Bucky, captain USAs mate, also killed iron mans parents. But not on purpose because heâs like a Manchurian candidate. All mates by the end.
I think theyâre great. But I understand folks not liking them.
Yeah weâre too far in now. I quite fancy watching game of throwns but it just seems to much to get through.
Oh god donât, worst most unfulfilling last season since Lost.
I loved it.
Best Marvel films in recent years are -
Spiderverse (the animated one ) - this is a work of art.
Guardians of the Galaxy 1 - if you like Star Wars or Indiana Jones movies, youâll like this. No probs if you donât like OG Star Wars.
Thor Ragnarok
Logan
Deadpool 1 & 2.
GOTG and Thor Ragnarok all feed into the other MCU movies, which ultimately leads to Infinity War and End Game, while the others are stand-alone, made by different studios.
I couldnât hack the Thor movies.
Logan, Deadpools were solid. Spiderverse was really, really good.
The first 2 Thor Movies were shit to be fair, Ragnarok was great laugh though. Loosely based on the Planet Hulk comic books I think. Marvel went through a stage of doing DVD extras where Thor was sharing a house with this office worker guy called Darren which then carried on to include The Grandmaster after Ragnarok. Pretty good laugh I thought.
My lad is head to toe in Spiderman gear so might get Into the Spiderverse on for him, is it ok for a 4 year old?
I watched it with a 5 year old and was a little worried what might come alongâŚthere were some bits she just didnât understand - and it is cartoon scary in places but she was absolutely fine. Enjoyed it.
Over the course of three weeks of paternity leave, staying awake all night with baby and a Disney+ login I watched pretty much every Marvel film ever. The Avengers ones can be a slog if you canât remember all the story links but you can always switch your brain off and just watch the action. Bit like Star Wars I suppose. Black Panther was no way near as good as everyone said. And they need to do more Hulk. But I suppose itâs like arguing over football teams or whether football is good or bad generally, either youâre into it or not.
Mine is spiderman crazy and almost the same age. Let me know how it goes!
Anyone watched the latest Wonder Woman? Truly bizarre, and not in a good way.
I did. I thought the first one was really good and it surprised me as I am particular about my superhero films.
I was eagerly waiting for WW 1984.
âŚand what an absolute turd it was. Really, really bad.
