Just finished it, very enjoyable

Tilda Swinton * was really captivating in it too.

*Spoiler as their appearance was a happy suprise to me.

I wonder if Eyes Wide Shit has got any better yet?

That has been on my ā€˜to watch’ list for about 20 years now…
Never seen it.

On my rewatch list is this:

Been meaning to for a couple of years but its 3 hours long and I am never in the mood (Although lapped up Oppenheimer which was 3 hours).

They are re-releasing The Abyss. One night only…US theaters.
But if there is a UK showing, I have to get on it. If I get locked into a cinema then I’d be into it.

Yeah, fair. I struggle to stay awake in the cinema.
Warm room. Comfy seat. Dark.
Good night.

Today I learned that Little Mo from Eastenders is Gary Oldman’s sister.

Is that common knowledge?

Probably going to get hated for this, but here goes.

Finally got round to watching Dune this week. Visually amazing, but story-wise and everything else… felt flat and a bit dull to me. I don’t get the hype.

It’s okay. It took a screening at the cinema for me to go watch the car crash original, finally.
I’m glad I have seen it but I’m good for ever seeing it again.

I tried Dune part 1 a couple of times. Got to the 30 minute mark twice and turned it off.

Maybe I’ll try again someday…

The studios took it over from Lynch and it wasn’t what he wanted at all.

You should try the new one and the upcoming sequel. Much better.

The Original Dune is a slog now but remember liking it when I was a kid.
New Dune was ace but like Star wars, what is it really about? Flimsy boring stories on paper.

Yeah, seeing the original as a young teen when you didn’t notice anything bad in films embedded it as a classic for me.

I like the new Dune, but the pacing drops off a cliff once Paul and his mother get dumped in the desert

I still have a soft spot for the Lynch Dne, but then I think it might be the mentalness of trading Dune Panini stickers in primary school like it was Star Wars or the 1984 Sheffield Wednesday FC lineup

Had to check it wasn’t a fever dream

Watched new Fincher movie The Killer.

Was a bit shit. Not sure what it was trying to do, was it supposed to be funny?

Watched Casino last night, great film. Ginger’s a fucker.

I enjoyed Dune more the second time I watched it after googling what on earth any of it was about.
The throat singing guys were the best part, needs more of those.

Help settle an argument - do you pronounce Dune like June or Doon?

It’s June right? dJune.

The Conversation is on iPlayer, what a class act. I swear everything made from around 1967 - 1975 is amazing, any genre, any medium

like June surely?

Agree with @darthpunk and @suitcase the first time I watched I was blown away by the visuals but maybe not so much the story but on the second viewing I was much more engrossed and had a chance to really delve into the story.
Still agree about the pacing after the dessert bit.
I think the first film should have ended just as they got there and that would have been a logical pacing place to start the second one.

One of my favourite films of all time. And the soundtrack is great, too.

I’d day Dyune.

June is a bit like Trump calling China, Gina (like vagina).

Doon would be fine if you were from Noo Yoik and you watched it while drinking your kwaffee
