Oh yes! The old roller rink floor
Yep, and that’s coming from me who’d do 40 mins daily yoga each morning. Passive stretching (similar to a lot of yoga) is definitely a good thing, but not right before you skate, or do any sort of vigorous exercise. I’ve heard the same sentiment from a lot of mobility experts, PTs, physios, etc.
Best things you can do are a 20-30 min cycle to get there and / or skipping for 10 mins right before you skate. Otherwise, squats (vanilla or with a kettlebell) works a lot of your skate muscles and incorporating that exercise into a daily workout will always help.
I never warm up or stretch. But always warm down if I’ve been properly working. I’m not that gnarly these days but I enjoy getting stuck in.
Normally only skate once every 6 months these days but have been down to The House twice in two weeks!
Plenty of older heads down there tonight and ive made a promise to myself to try and skate more this year.
When a session is going off, real life seems so insignificant. All that matters for that hour is pissing about on that plank lol.
Cant wait for next week
7 months ago I moved to the USA to marry my American girlfriend. Obviously, I was Billy no mates and waiting for my work visa to come though, so I just went skating (and filming) by myself most days.
Fast forward to this week and I finished a video part that I’m really stoked on. Proper tried my hardest on these tricks, some of the ending tricks took hours.
That fountain/pond type spot looks a lot of fun
It’s so fun, it was a 10 minute walk from where we were living at the time too
Great that!
Awesome!
Love your dedication and how you adapt to street terrain. Props. Oh and that fountain looks incredible.
Wherebaouts in the States are you?
Took my ledge and rail to the road spot, still a bit wobbly after a few months off but good fun for an hour and a half. Security even rolled by and were cool. Happy days.
The ventures allow me to roll the ledge into the boot of my car
Rad little hack that!
Awesome!
Went to the local today, one of the first days it’s been above freezing all day so was hoping it was dry.
It was, apart from the snow and.ice on the transitions of the quarters at the back of the park and some random bits of ice melting and in puddles everywhere, but got a quick skate in at least. That’s the Baltics for ya. 2nd skate so far this year!
Damn didn’t realise it was that gnarly. Long dry summers though I guess?
Had some good weather here recently. Car park curb sesh today and yesterday. Had a funny scorpion slam yesterday and learned switch frontside slappy crooks today so on balance it’s been a good time
That stoked me out @philmcd. You’re seriously living the dream right now!
