Back what @jimo says 100%. There’s a really good crew down at our local car park spot these days (diverse abilities and age ranges too). They came for the waxy curbs but have somehow formed an extended and socially-cohesive little gang.
Try to get out 2-3 times a week personally. Was at the car park last night and hopefully will be again later.
My daughter will get to skate and I won’t. Not sure I can though, as my elbow is still all swole from my fall on Sunday. Hurts enough touching it, let alone falling on it again. Woe be me etc
Doing our annual not go skateboarding day thing tomorrow if anyones in the Cardiff area and free. Pretty mellow one this year (I hope), feeling old and tired and not up for conflict with Joe Public
Had a good skate, learnt fs and bs no comply tail stalls. Would be fun to get them on a bank to kerb. My mate gave me a tip for the fs one and it worked straight away. Nice evening for it, about perfect temperature. Just dorking around on kerbs.
First skate at the new spot we worked on with the council. It’s really fun, some of the construction is a bit questionable, wobbly tranny and stuff, but if it lasts ok I’ll forgive that.
Actually went skateboarding today. For the first time in three years.
Not sure if I enjoyed it, which bums me out. The legs weren’t as wobbly as I was expecting which was a surprise, and I managed a few slappie 5050s and some no complies. But, I literally could barely ollie, have absolutely no flick and the thought of any kind of transition fills my 35 year old bones with dread. The sesh ended when I slipped out and hit my ribs doing an axel stall.
I know if I go regularly I could probably get back to a medium level of comfort. But it’s kind of depressing to know that this is where I’m at now - it was almost better not knowing how shit I’ve actually become. Also I was getting a sharp pain in my knee when trying to pop, which I forgot was one of the reasons I was skating less in the first place.
