Sounds alright to me! A slappy, a no-comply and an axle stall is a line ![]()
Too lazy to go out properly so had half an hour on my coal bunker lid / kerb yesterday evening.
Every little helps.. etc

I’d had a few months ‘off’ over winter. Felt like dogshit when I stepped back on. It gradually came back over a few weeks, closer to a month before I felt a bit more comfortable. After a few months/years off it’s always shit having to push through the basics again.
Yeah, maybe I was just surprised at how shit I’d become. Gonna go out again next week and see how I feel.
Also going to put risers back on the board and switch out the 52mm wheels. Did not feel comfortable
Ah it’s the first time in years! Totally natural to suck. Try and string a couple of moves together next time and you’ll feel way better if you achieve it. A slappy and a clean no comply followed by a nice sit down to soak up the feeling ![]()

One thing I do regret in a way is my downtime off a skateboard. If I could get the last decade back and rewind to 35 knowing what I know now, the skater in me says I’d have pushed myself to keep skating, but I’m not 100% sure. I’d have probably been a worse husband/father/family dude for it. I’ve never ‘quit skating’ but life certainly gets in the way which is fine. But it is always a pain in the arse getting back on and finding your legs again…I fucking hate it to tell you the truth and it gets harder after each break and as the years pass.
I guess my advice is to really try to keep on top of it, but if you can’t, let the feeling of ‘fuck me, I’m shitter than I ever was’ wash over you when you get the chance to skate again. Then slappy and no comply. Do some 50-50’s. Powerslides. Slides where you slide 180 back/frontside on just the back wheels always feel nice. Skate around fast without doing tricks, it always feels good, just the rolling is dope as fuck. Happy days.
That all sounds cheesy as fuck but I dont care.
You can tell when I’ve had a few because I waffle on here ![]()
After ankle surgery it was shit for about 4 years, it’s only the last year I’ve been getting stuff back and have had the most fun learning new stuff in the longest time I can remember!
Get back out there!
Yeah definitely gonna go back out next week. I think I was maybe a bit shocked at my lack of skill lol. Might also go down the park earlier so I don’t feel like such an ageing adult in public.
Definitely need to do some cool down stretches next time as well, my shoulders and upper body really ache this morning!
My knee is also fucked, but nothing I can do there I don’t think.
Just had a quick lunchtime roll at our local. It’s so hard to get any motivation skating on your own.
Edit. I’m also really rusty, even though I last skated less than a week ago.
Yeah I suppose that’s bound to happen if you don’t skate for years but keep watching skateboarding pretty much every day. Mentally you’re still kickflipping stairs easily but you actually lose your confidence as confidence is something you get and keep with practice.
No biggie. Whatever. Just roll fast and do some ollies.
This could be a side effect of the pandemic but I really prefer skating on my own these days. If I skate with people it’s always fun and cool but if we’re talking about motivation, learning new moves and things like that I feel better on my own. I like the satisfaction I get from landing something I had to fight for but don’t feel like trying the same trick more than 5 times if I’m skating with some mates.
That feeling you get when you land something for the first time is priceless. Something only skateboarders know I suppose, but who knows?
I’m inspired by your line skating and I’m trying to fit in micro skates just to keep the body working.
It’s funny, I did I little half cab on a bank and it felt amazing. Simple pleasures and that.
Also I’m pretty sure one of the bagheads under the tree is inside the other one.
Ended up messing about here for a bit. Nice to skate street instead of a concrete park for once.
Got the ledge extended out another block today and all painted/lacquered. Had varying levels of paint left so ended up being some pastel miami vice type of theme lol
I’m going skateboarding tomorrow night. Hopefully. Go me!!!
I’ve been living in Los Angeles for the last 18 months and I’ve skated all the bucket list spots and parks I can think of. I should be moving back to England in April next year so I want to make sure I’ve not missed anything.
Anyone got any obscure recommendations? I reckon I’ve already hit the big spots- Santa Monica curbs, the courthouse, Stoner etc.
Perks of having your diy about half a mile away from a council dumping ground: free granite
Drawbacks: probably contributing to sciatica later in life by moving them and a friend almost losing a finger in the process
Outcome:
The Greek homie absolutely swears by expanding foam, I was a bit skeptical at first but it was solid and skatable after an hour, will be boxing it all in at somepoint.
