Went to Love Park in Falmouth yesterday fir a roll and it was brill! A whole indoor skatepark with nothing bigger than 3 foot. Perfect ledges and banks, a lovely bank to Kerb all linked together with a woiden floor.
Got to hang out with some locals i hadnt seen for twenty years too.
Just brilliant. Eddie has done a great job.
Currently trying to remove an axel nut but it’s turning and not coming off. Any solutions?
Have you tried turning it the other way?
Just kidding. Wind it back on, run a hacksaw blade along the threads to clean and realign them, then undo again. That normally does the trick.
Think it’s the nut rather than the axel. It isn’t screwing back! I’ve messed this up.
Another way to do it is to put the truck in a vice, cut across a face of the nut (parallel to the axle) until almost through, then twat it with a hammer & bolster so that the nut splits and comes away from the axle. Obviously theres plenty to go wrong this way.
Thanks dude. This is a nightmare. Pray for me.
I’ve made it my mission this year to re-learn a bunch of fliptricks that I have lost over the years due to being incredibly lazy. The truth is I just wasn’t patient enough to get consistent with a lot of fliptricks, but as I’ve gotten older it’s something I feel like I enjoy practicing and spending more time on. Basically means I can get out on the drive and have a little skate a few times a week!
First proper skate in ages last night
Had a lovely hour at the new wheelscape park just down from my work. Early finish on a Wednesday before the school kicks out
Back on my board after a 3 week hiatus due to a twisted wrist.
Quick solo skate on a freshie yesterday, quick solo skate this morning too. Feels so good.
Setting up a complete for a mate’s son having a glass of Apfelschorle right now, simple things make me happy.
Nice @franc! I have the best intentions to go skating tonight. We shall see, just waiting for a dirty takeaway pizza to turn up. I bet I’ll feel fat and slow after eating that though
FWIW I think I’m 7 maybe 8 weeks off. Ankle looking pretty much normal now which is sweeet
Ah man I love a good pizza (had a white diavola with sweet peppers earlier today) but I avoid having one before going skating as I broke too many boards skating after a pizza lunch! It probably had more to do with being a big guy and landing a few tricks sketchily than the pizze themselves but it’s in my head now…
Have fun!
I’ve torn my calf muscle, thought it would be three weeks off but it’s one week today and I can walk the dog and stuff, just twinges a bit up hills.
Bit worried about doing it again by going back too soon…but also keen to skate again asap. Anyone got any advice? Am I gonna put myself right back to square one if I don’t go easy?
Go to a physio, my mates done the same and he’s seeing a physio that has him on a recovery plan . Was skating again after 2 weeks , but a chilled skate and his calf didn’t play up .
Happened to me once, stupidly, tried something that required pop, hadn’t warmed up, BOOM. I should have iced it and rested but I was judging a comp during the whole weekend so I basically tried to power through the pain with booze as I couldn’t chill on my sofa.
I can’t remember how long it took to heal, 2 to 3 weeks I suppose but nothing like that ever happened again as I now take the time I need to warm up before doing anything vaguely serious on a skateboard.
You’ll be fine, just cruise around at first, it’ll be enough to make you happy and you won’t do anything stupid that way.
Yeah that’s what I was planning. Just don’t wanna have another few weeks out just as the weather gets better!
@Chopper probably good advice but there’s no way I’m going to a physio
If you can walk the dog now, I’d say start rolling around on a cruiser in a few days then you’ll be skating again soon after that, you’ll know when you’ll be ready. Get well soon pal.
Thanks franc, yeah I can walk but I can’t flex my calf muscle. I feel like it would probably buckle if I started jumping on it. I’m just trying to listen to my body
Didn’t make it last night but got an hour out tonight. Ankle held up. Balance a bit off initially but felt better once warmed up.
That was a frustrating injury break - I’ve sunk well back into daily drinking so now I can skate again time to stop. Skated so much better when there was less alcohol in me!!!
Off to Leek skatepark today. My daughter is keen on checking out the bowl. Hopefully it is a) dry after last nights rain, b) not full of debris/rubbish and c) quiet.
