It’s a fucking kiddies playground
Waste of fuel
Edit - calmed down a bit after a few mins. Will have a bit of a skate but it’s windy as fuck and with that, coooolllllldddd.

Did they design it to kill people? Why is everything so ridiculously gnarly?! What a waste of money. Jesus.
And it’s all tight together…I honestly hate modern concrete parks.
Not many plazas around but I like how the emphasis tends to be more space instead of how many stupid things can be crammed in with transition everywhere. If I have to use a quarter pipe to get speed for anything then I’m out
It’s a Maverick park. They cram loads of shit too close together. No idea how to make a park flow.
In a nutshell I skated back and forth for about 1 minute. Lizzy skated from one side to the other. Then we sacked it off. Bowl looked decent but was being used as a scooter jump ramp, parents sat on the ledges, little babies on plastic scooters etc etc. Grim. Its been so long since I last went to a public park and I now remember why I stopped going.
Halfway home and Lizzy said lets go to the local indoor so we had an hour there which was fine.
My legs are utterly fucked. Need a few days rest now.
Take your kid street skating instead
I’m not too overly familiar with the particulars of each builder, but this was exactly that. In a quest to have something for everyone it just ends up a complete jumbled mess of dogshit on a plot smaller than my back garden. Madness.
I was aiming to go to Nantwich (Barony Skate Park) this weekend which apparently the scootay kids moaned about when it was built, its a Canvas park and it looks like a sensible use of space which looks good to me, but Lizzy - at the moment - is into transition and still learning to ollie, so would probably get bored.
Either way, I’m no park building expert
Yeah, its been a few months since I dragged her to an industrial estate
Have you ventured down to Shrewsbury? The old plaza there is a little rough but there is a beefy mini ramp that is good
I’ve not skated it but we regularly stay down the road from Sundorne in our caravan as it is close to home for a quick weekend anway and the kids love it. It’s almost always wet when we go though, so we’ve never ended up actually going.
I vaguely remember seeing it looking fresh on Facebook, but that’s likely nearly twenty years ago now
I remember us driving to Crewe to check out the skatepark and was so disappointed. It’s like they wanted to skate a collosium or they maybe built it one a hill and the budget wouldn’t stretch to flatten it. Horrendous place.
A local park ended up getting designed mainly by scooter kids. It’s just fly outs and pump tracks and all lines cross.
Parks seem to have gone from Olympic spec hero arenas to cramming as much shit in as possible to win the contract.
Which one was that?
In between us and Henley way, not sure who built it.
Got this about 20mins away in Hungerford now in place of the old park.
Only problem is when you are mid run on the mini, you get kids flying out from the pump track bit or going into the flat and getting iced.
It’s like an AI drawing where two separate entities are accidentally merged together
I would put it in my manifesto that every skatepark in the country, by law, should have one long, low (but not too low), non-curved ledge you can hit frontside and backside on flat.
I would also ban psychics and mediums but that’s another issue.
Here’s another, 20 minutes up the road…
Not to sound ungrateful, but…can imagine the bowled corners spitting kids on scooters into the bank-curb bit (which looks fun) and the hubbas with stairs under it makes me think ill snap my ankle if I bail out. I’ll probably check this one out early am Sat or Sun this weekend as there does look like I can have some fun there until the little ones turn up
There has been a lack of thought gone into skateparks for a long time now, if I actively skated more and wasn’t burned out on skating i’s get angry about it but I no longer care enough. Which is fucking sad to admit because I was passionate about skateparks before.
There’s a lot of compromise nowadays, because there are multiple different groups of people to please. You have the street skaters, who want ledges, rails, banks and steps. You have the transition skaters, who want ramps and bowls. You have oldies on longboards and surf skates, who want pump tracks. Then there are the scooter kids and the BMXers. And then there are the insurance companies, who want no injuries or payouts. It’s a wonder anything gets built,
