In the news thread

if they can go to work and not be in contact with others then go, if not don’t go.

Not that I take pleasure in saying this, but if that’s the case, then you were part of the problem.

I don’t really want to pay attention to the news now, it’s not relevant to me at this point anyway considering that it’s still work from home if you can.

This seems like a good idea to me:

Despite the terrible comms from Bojo. the people who got the tube are pretty stupid too, and their bosses who told them to come in are also stupid.

If you’re not sure what to do then you should wait until it’s clear.

What opportunity was there for bosses to contact their employees since 7:30pm last night to agree whether they are due in this morning and what would be the consequences for an employee not turning up to work when their boss expects them to be there if that conversation had not been had?

I guess it’s not clear who should and shouldn’t be going to work. Maybe they are all construction workers with no other way to get to work.

If there is no option for them you make a fair point.

Maybe i’m wrong, i’d like to know why SO many more people all got on the tube this morning since last week.

It should just be Key Workers and Construction?

These construction companies should find a way to get their employees to the site without public transport, and maybe the government should help with that.

I hope there are going to be some measures put in place to marshall how many people can get on public transport, is that asking too much?

I think I need to check my privilege.

My company has explicitly said that we will be the last people to go back to the office in order to make it easier for people who cannot work from home.

Everyone is on full pay and nobody furloughed.

Quick pitstop away from the lockdown wiff waff.

There’s a lot to unpack here:

  1. I thought this had been done on a vert ramp before anyway? Shaun White or something?
  2. He starts fakie
  3. He’s 11 so good on him
  4. It’s as stinking as you might imagine. The spin stinks and he lands having a shit on the flat bottom.
  5. The word ‘train’ is used an awful lot by his dad in a very short article.
  6. They’ve built him this ramp, a bowl and a street course?!!! Lucky little Michael Fabricant.
  7. Unless of course he doesn’t even want to skate and his dad is threatening to break his legs unless he wins Olympic gold by the time he’s 20 then I feel sorry for him
  8. An 8 year old landed a 900 and the skateboarding world simply didn’t notice or care. Just like they won’t for this.
  9. This quote: ‘Khury’s triple spin was recorded by his parents on their phone and posted on Instagram.’
  10. That I’m reading about a skateboard trick in tbe guardian. Wtf.

If they’re not teenagers and breaking world records (Sky brown) then they are worthy of a news report especially if linked to the Olympics like the BBC live to do.
Skateboarding is under the Olympic category for everything.

People who don’t skate don’t have a clue

Some shops to open in June? Would you think that’s something you’d be a part of or do you think your bosses will choose to re-open when they think it’s best.

My work has called a company wide meeting on zoom this afternoon. I’m dreading what they are going to say.

  1. It has been done before but it was on a mega-ramp which I guess is ‘easier’ because you’re flying towards the quarter at 1000 miles per hour and don’t have to pump into it

Either way, he put both hands down so it doesn’t count

My mate sent me this the other day. My (possibly grumpy) reply to him was along the lines of “Meh. But can he 50-50 a kerb without grinding?”

Then I sent him a link to a section from the last Chip Shop Army edit (which is ace!).

First thing this morning, My missus woke up to a load of emails asking if they are coming into work. If they are this stupid then I wonder why they are even employed in the first place I told her.
People should not be working if their company is claiming money for their wages, so there should be no change overnight in the amount of people going to work. People that are not furloughed are still working to keep the business going (like my missus). Self employed people have been working throughout if that’s at all possible if they have had the work or if not they have dropped tools and hopefully claimed money, everyone working has been socially distancing… all in theory.
Most of construction has carried on if materials are available, building companies have strict rules of conduct for distancing.

That train will not be full of workers on essential jobs, I doubt it anyway. It will be people misreading the message and going off somewhere, too lazy to walk overground.
By next week the numbers will be soaring again and they’ll have to be forced to re evaluate lockdown.

Very different up here, sites were told to close. Pretty much because it’s impossible to distance.

Now on Interpol watch list
