oof didn’t know/hadn’t heard that.

Front of the US to just flat out say ‘she was under legal immunity’ and leave it at that. Imagine the uproar if it was the other way around. Extremely bad form. Tossers.

Good news I think, not sure how much choice they had but it’s still a good decision.

Really weird hearing people talking about stressing going back to work when I’ve had to go in to the office this whole time. Not judging anyone, and everyone’s situation is different, but I’m sure you can appreciate how it sounds from the other side.

What do you do that’s needed you to be in an office?

Yeah I was going to ask that. Do you post out printed material or something?

My big boss has gone into the office every day since lockdown to show how hard he is. Totally and utterly unnecessary. There’s nothing he’s doing from there that couldn’t be done from home.

Transport planning. We’re so busy that there’s 3 of us answering phones constantly and planning who needs to being doing what and where (but there is 8 of us in total still in the office). Couldn’t do it from home and we need to collaborate on it, and I don’t think we could be in a constant Zoom call all day whilst also being on the phone and trying to remotely log everything to the system (which would be a £5000 system upgrade, that the company can’t afford). Fun times!!
Obvs, I’ve got the odd 5 mins to spare to browse this forum, but that’s my only escape from this madness.

Mate. Your company is making you work through this and they don’t have £5k? I’d be asking questions there.

Questions have been asked. Answers have been given. No, they don’t have £5k.

We’ve furlough half the staff and they will probably be made redundant when the furlough runs out. Customers aren’t paying over the odds for the work we’re doing now, so profit margins are slimming, as we still have to pay for all the running costs. Hope it’ll bounce back, but it’s not like people were paying good money for transport rates before this happened (looking at all the supermarkets/retail for making that happen), so we’re not expecting things to get better.

Just trying to keep the company going, so I’ve got a job when this situation comes to an end. Not expecting any thanks for it. It’s purely selfish reasons.

Watching this thing about how this government is great at getting it’s point across, so for there be any confusion what so ever it has to be whats intended. To Boris answering questions about the confusion in French yesterday, FFS!
How the new sign, has green stripes/flecks in the background rather than the red ones in the old sign (subliminal messages and all that, green meaning go and red stop, go to work, go to school, go out, ect).
Never mind the wording being so ambiguous it let’s them wriggle out of a lot of things.
The tories where playing this war time narrative and they were going to be the heroes, but that hasn’t happened, so now they are changing tactics and are going to get the public in a muddle to the point that they are to blame themselves and they’ll forget the tories short comings and turn on each other instead.

Exactly. The Conservative party are essentially a PR firm. There’s no way the vague messaging isn’t intentional

Rishi Sunak is bringing out strange feelings towards this government…gratitude. Uuurgh.

It’s good though so far.

Yesterday, my company has told us all that they are asking us to go back on June the 1st, not demanding.

My boss is also sort of heavily hinted that she wants me back on an exact date this month. Was totally put on the spot.

The company are doing another group wide online meeting tomorrow hopefully in relation to the new furlough advice.

The main problem I have, which will be the case by the millions across the country is childcare.

My wife works from home and our nursery isn’t open and we can’t socialise with grandparents so how was I expected to go back to full time work this month :man_shrugging:

A bit more furloughing will hopefully release the pressure off our company to get back out and earning again before its physically feasible for the staff to actually work.

I get a really good vibe from Rishi, I don’t know why, it’s not like all this money is directly from him and his ideas. Shame I can’t say the same for anyone else in the party, I can’t think of a single good word for anyone I know the name of.

So they’ve got all the social distancing stuff ready then have they?

They have to be fair. One way systems in and out. Rotas and stuff. PPE for all. They are our new owners and they are million billion times more on it than our previous owners would have been.

My wife is on the high risk list so I can’t go anywhere until the 15th of June anyway. Plus I can’t put my son anywhere either.

The advice is always go in to be work from home if you can and I could do my job from a beach in the Maldives (if only) if I wanted to so I’m not going to go near my office anytime soon.

Same for mine but I don’t think they’re anywhere close to having the office sorted yet, I don’t expect to even consider going back until September at least.

Don’t be surprised if schools don’t go back on June 1st like they have said. It’s pretty much impossible to do. For a start, section 44 of the employment rights act. Have a google

Social distancing in a confined space like an office or classroom won’t be enough:

That’s a very good point actually.
