In the news thread

Seems like he became really popular by taking an anti-vaccine stance after initially sharing pretty uncontroversial content. A lot of his videos now contain misleading or just downright false information. His background is as a nurse with a nursing degree who then got a doctorate in methods to teach nursing. He’s not a medical doctor. This background doesn’t make me think he’s some kind of authority on a very complex subject.
To be fair this video you shared does link to a study that appears to demonstrate the main point made. However, not all scientific studies are solid by any means and I don’t have the scientific background to rate it.
So all in all I’m really sceptical of any video he makes but don’t have the background to say whether what he’s saying in his latest video is complete bollocks or not.

Yeah i agree by and large, and it’s fair to say he has maybe drifted into the arena of the unwell. But still, some of the references are very interesting and well worth a listen. There’s one testimony from the Finnish enquiry from a senior uk doctor and government advisor which makes our enquiry look pretty pathetic. I might post that since i mentioned it but i think I’ll leave it there, paranoia isn’t a barrel of laughs

Digging the reference.

It seems to me she’s focusing on some very vocal and very visible support from a small niche rather than say the starmer luke warm water approach where you just need vague approval from as many people as possible without alienating anyone.

It must be nice to have hip young women support you but that’s not going to win the election

Stating the obvious but why can’t they see it?

She just raised $81 million in 24 hours, the highest campaign funds raised in a day in history. Seems to have a bit more support than “hip young women”

She can apparently hold her own in a debate, would be good to see her up against Trump, can’t imagine him dealing well with that at all.

Well i hope I’m wrong, definitely wouldn’t be the first time.

I’m willing to accept I’m an out of touch old git. It’s going to be an entertaining campaign if you can see past the existential dread

I’ll definitely tune in to that

She resigned

it’s a good watch, never seen such an angry hearing and she does not come over well at all

Given how much the prospect restoring or further damaging abortion rights will hang over this election, trying to gain the mass support of young women is probably a smart move.

I watched this the other night and it makes the good point that Harris’ best course of action is more likely gaining votes from a range of minorities rather than volumes of white undecided/swing voters.

While half of me has had enough of it all, the other half would look forward to a debate between him and Kamala, she’d wipe the floor with him and all his talking points, bidens age, women rights, immigration can be weaponized against him alongside the fact he’s a felon and she spent a good portion of her life putting felons away

Then there’s a VP debate, and every possible VP pick that she has will likely skull fuck Vance through his glass eye and straight into the phantom zone simply by talking about how he used to describe Trump as Hitler and called him a threat to the nation

I’m not so sure. The main people both sides have to win over is undecided voters in the Midwestern swing states. Both Trump and Harris are from immigrant backgrounds but I have a feeling Trump’s approach to immigration is more suited to the Midwest where Harris appeals more to liberal voters on the coasts, who are already going to vote Democrat anyway.
As for Vance, he already has a big following among people who read his book and watched his Netflix drama. His ‘get out of jail free card’ is that he’s not the man he was. He’s changed his views and his religion and now he’s on the same side as the man he used to scorn.
The task for Harris is going to be how to reach out beyond big-city Democrats and beat Trump in resonating with blue-collar middle America.
It’s going to be tough.

Is it ok to say 99% are from an immigrant background in America? Trump just happens to be from quite a privileged one.

I think you’re right.
Trump’s father was a millionaire from a German immigrant family and his mother was a Gaelic-speaking croffter.

That’s more my thinking tactics wise. Its great that some really like her but you just need mr & mrs average American to like you a bit more than the opposition. You don’t get extra points for those who were always going to vote dem anyway

:ok_hand: I hope she’s hip to the plight of Gaza as well

How many of these statements have there been now? I’ve lost count. Not that I wouldn’t love to be wrong but I can’t see too much changing now.
