The pinnacle of competition climbing is the world cup. They split the disciplines of bouldering and lead climbing which is as it should be. In the olympics they have combined lead climbing (i.e. using ropes on longer routes) with bouldering which is shorter more powerful climbs above mats. The problem is in general competitors tend to concentrate on one discipline and suddenly have to put some training into the other discipline to stand a chance in the olympics.
It’s obviously not the pinnacle for golf either as they have the major championships which are coveted far more.

The police can’t be held to the same standard as an everyday citizen, law abiding or not. Given the track record of police abusing their power the law should come down on them way harder than anyone else.
