A lot has changed in the last 10 years , but it’s still prevalent in the industry unfortunately amongst crew and I’ve had colleagues come to me telling me about incidents involving supervisors recently, which now we’re gathering more people who’ve encountered similar situations to bring a strong case against said fabricants and hopefully dismissals or “leaves the dept” .
I don’t understand why people can’t just not be weirdos at work. It’s so easy not to be a skeevy fucker in the office. Just bottle it up and let it out at da club if you must
I don’t get how hard it is to call out the Michael Fabricants doing it when it becomes clear what’s happening. I’ve worked in universities, consultancies, utilities, all sorts and if you just straight up called it out, at whatever level the perpetrators are at, they’d have shat themselves. I could understand it if you’re in the Church of England or Donald Trumps election campaign team, but if not you need to have a word with yourself if you let it go.
It’s not like he’s even the golden goose, or particularly talented. He’s a fucking grocer, who had a failed chain of awful restaurants. Everyone thinks he is, at best, a bit odd and, at worst, a bit Saville. He knows fuck all about good food. Just sack the rapey Michael Fabricant off and get Tommy Banks or someone on.
That is exactly how it should be but unfortunately it’s not always that easy for some . Not going into what’s happening with my colleagues, but they’re more worried about job security and reputation ( in a freelance world with no HR dept) where they feel they can’t speak up . But I’m glad they did and turns out for them they’re not the only one so now things can actually move forward.
I’m sorry to hear that it happened to your colleagues and glad that they’re getting organised in dealing with it but if the males around at the time (I’m making an assumption the victims were all female?) knew and did nothing then that’s unforgivable. You’re basically (not you specifically) saying it’s ok, if your job security depends on it. This is how it carries on.
I was walking through Leeds last week about 7pm and this aggro fuckwit was screaming at two women at the bus stop because they’d asked him to leave them alone. He was set to go at them until another fella and me stepped in and tried to divert him. I didn’t really want to get involved but if everyone just walks past then nothing changes.
Zero fucking tolerance
Oh believe me I was fuming when I was told , I wasn’t on that job and didn’t realise that particular supervisor was that bad and it wasn’t necessarily in front of others to witness from what I was told , But yeah I do question anyone who did and did nothing about it . Fucking would have intervened straight away if I’d had been there. Not on at all.
Last sexual harassment stuff at my work was a year or so back and the wrongun was a woman harassing another woman.
We also all had to take this online course just yesterday about sexual harassment in the workplace. It was all lols and people making a joke about it apart from two older blokes who were really offended we had to do this at all and it just more ‘woke bullshit’ and ‘this is why Trump won’.
Thoughts etc? Seems a tactical move and he’s right about brexit, still sounds kind of weird from a Labour voice. Lots of Michael Fabricants in the comments saying “didn’t they lock people up for saying this 2 months ago?” No they were locked up for trying to burn asylum seekers to death you knob
Everything he is saying is correct.
Regardless of what the mongs signing Musk’s petition whilst screaming ‘Two tier Kier’ are saying, nobody was getting locked up for pointing out that it was Tory policy to allow immigration to grow to such unsustainable proportions
Oh yeah for sure. The brexity daily mail Michael Fabricants will be confused by this i imagine
Interesting put from Rod Liddle telling the petition people that Kier won the election so they should suck it up, just like they told the People’s Vote people to after the Brexit referendum
They probably can’t and don’t want to believe the tories let migration jump from 220k to 900k in the last 5 years since and because of Brexit.
And tories versions of skilled workers basically meant low wage workers .
Hard for them to swallow when they voted for it . But of course now all labours fault
Before we even get into the more conspiratorial potential of the Tories allowing/encouraging this situation: (deliberately creating a bogeyman to point blame towards, increasing profits through rage bait for the newspapers that blindly advocate for the Tories despite clear proof of both corruption and incompetence and the more ‘out there’ but probably very true attempt to destroy working class solidarity by constantly pointing at the brown poor and blaming them) the reality is that there are huge profits to be made from this.
See here for the tip of the iceberg
Crispin Blunt being employed by Stay Belvedere Hotels Ltd is neither an accident nor an exception. The Tories are about profit and nothing else. We saw that during Covid - they and their donors have made billions off their approach to immigration. Fetid shit hangers all.
I’m not a cheerleader for Labour nor Starmer but this is what he is alluding to and he is right to do so.
Interesting thread on Reddit about if anyone’s keen.
Any chance you could archive it or copy/paste the article please? It’s behind a paywall
Yep, and the Tories should never be allowed to forget it.
Sorry what is this two tier Kier thing. Can someone explain please
Fantastic take on how modern Conservative thinking operates.
