If something like Insta gets controlled in such a way that you cannot express your opinion, this quickly then how are normal folk going to oppose? There are millions of people using insta to do business, they are more likely to put up and shut up to keep their thing going rather than vacating to some other platform. And are other platforms going to be allowed to be?

He knows he only has one more term this time as prez then thatās it done forever. The Constitution sets a two-term limit for any president. I think we are seeing something much more scary the second time around with him, as he doesnāt not want to give up power this time. He has said as much. That might be some sort of take over, seizing full power in a coup or even starting WW3 to keep him in office.

Kind of, but they have a slim majority so in many cases he still has to get the entire party on board any totally batshit ideas. There were apparently things he wanted to do last time but couldnāt for the same reason. Iām just trying to stay hopeful, the maxim that with politics things never usually turn out either as good as you hope or as bad as you fear is often reliable. But there are very obviously exceptions.

I think their angle will be to control media, at least corporations that are run by billionaires. Recruiting billionaires into their ideals, bullying and cornering the market of information. The āpeopleā arenāt that hard to turn if nearly all media is saying the same thing and the alternative means hiding and being controversial minority. The left will be underground.
The worrying thing is that Trump is just setting up the stall for all this, as you say, heās not got long but plenty of others who will come up behind.
Itās worrying times. And yeah, we can say itās so far away and not possible but we all felt that about covid āitāll never get here, itās in some random place in Chinaā.
