There’s something weird going on there:
A survey of more than 60,000 gay German men by Europe’s largest gay dating platform Romeo found that almost 28 per cent of its users intend to vote for the AfD, making it the most popular party in Germany for gay men.
These people are children. It’s going to be this every day for another 4 years
How come?
Pets are much worse than plastic straws for example.
If you take into account the cost of producing and distributing pet food and pet toys and accessories, the costs and environmental impact of vets and medicines for pets, the disposal of pet waste and the chance of it leaching into rivers and stuff… The list goes on for something that is an uneccessary luxury in the vast majority of cases.
Compare that to to plastic straws, which are more of a symbol of single use plastics than being the real issue. Plastic straws usually come with a plastic lid, a plastic lined paper cup, in a bag full of junk food. There is much more to be concerned about than the straw.
Personally speaking, as a pet owner I know I throw way more plastic in the bin as a result of keeping pets than I do in the form of straws. I generally opt for no straw anyway as I don’t really need one to drink from a cup.
This is how I feel about kids, they consume more and produce more shit and are also unnecessary
Our poo bags are compostable and the dog food comes in recyclable cardboard so not sure where the plastic is coming from really. Plus I was comparing plastic straws to paper straws rather than to pets but ok.
Logically then, you are unnecessary, presumably once being a kid yourself.
Could be a valid opinion when pets evolve to the point where they can grow our food build our houses and wipe your arse when you’re 90.

This is how I understand it the situation based on a few random articles (Spectator, BBC, Salon, Reddit, etc) I’ve read over recent weeks.
Since Germany made it a lot easier for non-EU migrants to settle there in 2015, there’s been a significant growth in recent immigrants who are intolerant of gay rights, whether they’re from Sudan, Burkina Faso, Iran, Afghanistan or whatever. Gay rights in Germany are largely seen as “secure”, so unlikely to be repealed back to the dark ages, but apparently, there’s a simmering undercurrent of homophobic attitudes and attacks. The far right in general are staunchly against immigration of any sort, so limiting immigration would make life easier for the LGBTQ+ community.
Now the entire situation is far more nuanced than all that and I could have it wrong, I don’t move in those circles, so take it as you will.
as much as i try to avoid Trump news and avoid posting Trump news when he inevitably does something unavoidable (on a daily basis), his actual real life comment of “you should never have started it” is genuinely sickening
