He’s just plain fucking rad.
Skateline was on Metro Skateboarding before Thrasher, so it’s not something Thrasher came up with, it was it’s own thing way before.
Also, to add to Voodoo - it was called “Gary responds” for a bit and I think it was run by a skateshop he rode/rides for. That may have been pre-Metro, too.
I don’t think they ripped PWBC stuff at all.
Grant Yansura on The Bunt is a good episode:
Jimi Britches story is pretty mad. Fuck him.
So sick that he used that Staba voicemail for Karsten’s intro to WKND
The list of people he’s had beef with just makes me like him more.
Made me want to buy a WKND board for sure. Just went back and watched the Karsten intro clip - comedy gold.
He was the FA team manager at one point, worked for Alien as well. Got fired from FA for allegedly stealing money. Fat straight edger.
Got a series of interviews on Vans’ Credits running throughout this week and the first one just live with the video’s director, Shari White.
That was Jimmy Arrighi from RVCA
Dyrdek interviewed by US entrepreneur Tom Bilyeu about business, mindset, etc. Features a bit of his personal skate history, but not about skating at all.
The Tony Hawk one is pretty good too.
The interviewer is excellent, but many of his guests talk in vague generalities when telling their stories. Saying that, if you like that sort of mindset / get your shit together stuff, there’s some good interviews in there.
Why do so many washed up pros get into real estate? Is it really easy to do? Do they all know each other?
I’ve often wondered that. Chet Thomas, Richard Mulder, Tim Gavin are the first I think of, there must be more.
Definitely lucrative as an agent, and doesn’t need any “hard” qualifications (such as law, accountancy, healthcare).
I can’t wait for Tony Hawk’s views on UFOs, hunting, drugs and MMA. It will be more interesting seeing him outside of the skate bubble podcasts (I hope).
It’s usually the skate ones where he’s more relaxed.
Guarantee joe will compare doing the 900 to hunting elk or jui jitsu.
Joey Suriel too.
Plus Scott Kane and Danny Montoya.
Some of these clowns bought some Bitcoin and now think they’re hedge fund managers. lol
Also Daniel Espinoza whose Cliche board I am still riding from 2016
Being able to determine that you got lucky and are not a genius must be really difficult for some people.
