That was rad. I wanted to know what happened with his shop.

Yeah, the Aurelian reference says a lot.

Great interview… maybe I was tired reading it, but it feels almost impossible to establish an accurate timeline of all his different board/shoe sponsors from that interview.

Board wise: Vision (flow), World Industries (distro flow), Flip, Stereo, Blueprint, New Deal, Stereo Masters/Classics

Shoe-wise: Vision, etnies, DC, Simple, duffs .

Both are ā€˜as far as I can remember’

Thanks. It was more the timing of everything with the boards, but maybe there’s some internal bias with my memory of the 90’s, very early 00’s at play. Eg, when exactly was he on Blueprint?

On the shoe front, I guess I was confused as I wasn’t sure when Etnies was and don’t really remember Simple being a thing that late in the 90s.

Just to reiterate, interview was great, I feel like I get this feeling from a lot of things where skaters talk about when things happened.

Well they had Ross from Friends on a TV incentive only/ flow deal.

Which is weird because they always had a DC sticker on the fridge in Friends.

DVS stickers were on the fridge.

And Matix clothing.

Black Label I think too.

DVS showed up in CSI one time when a murdered kid’s shoes had the asymmetrical wear on one shoe explained through skating.

That feels the wrong way around. I seem to remember him having New Deal boards at Wakey and can’t remember skating there around or after WFTW?

You’re probably right - other way around

Yeah, BP was last I think.

Really enjoyed the Carl Shipman interview, thanks. I like his attitude, just skating for the fun of it. Sometimes I think even with my low skill level I get too caught up with the whole insta and filming thing. Am actually thinking of focusing all social media.

All the good stuff turns up here anyway.

I don’t know a lot about Shipman so that was a really great read, it was nice to hear how passionate he still is about it.

I’ve probably told this one before, but I still remember it like yesterday - the h-street hokus pokus tour demo in Leicester: shippo turns up in the freshest stussy red gold and green tee, and proceeds to totally wreck shop. I’d never seen him before and just assumed he was already pro. He skated way better than the entire team including Hensley, and I remember looking at them checking him out with embarrassed expressions. I always wondered if they tried to pick him up that day. I was totally in awe.

After the demo there was a prem of the vid in town, which was amazing. I ended up getting the biggest bollocking after missing the bus home and my mum getting our neighbour to go out looking for me in his car. Ah, the mammaries!
