I listened to the whole thing. His Bunt interview was good so wanted to listen to this too. Was interesting to hear about his injury and how it had lead to him assessing his life in general and wanting to be healthier. I could relate to that. He seemed more anxious in this than the Bunt interview though which made it a harder listen. I think Cephas and Donovan often get the best out of their interviewees.
Interviewed Josh Stewart about Static 6 and various other things for the new issue of North, which should be arriving in shops in the next day or so.
Saw that in your Instagram.
Static 6….my fucking balls are tingling.
when Static 5 turned up unannounced…
i was already watching Static 4 with one eye closed, 5 pushed me over the edge, ha
It’s such a good DVD package. Jahmal Williams ![]()

New Village Psychic interview with Akwasi.
Old Thrasher Cold Call (from 2 years back).
It’s been a while since I noticed someone stand out from the crowd by taking a bit of different approach to skating than most. I’ve had that recent Akwasí part and the ASICS thing on loop. Dude seems an all round top fella both on and off the board.
I love him he skates like a cool Dan Corrigan.
Short Hinson interview done by that guy who used to post on the Sidewalk forum. Touches on the discussion from the other thread about how hard it is to get by as a UK sponsored skater.
“He is just stepping to monster street terrain in a way in which nobody else in the UK even looks close to. End of.”
lol.
No diss to Joe, but when writers put someone on a pedestal like that…Hard read.
That reminded me of that old Sidewalk feature about skater’s real jobs, what was it called?
Jamie had DM’ed me on Instagram asking if he could call me. He drove down to LA and dropped me off a box in person at the homie’s house I was staying at. It’s pretty trippy to think about
Amazing.
Agree. But there is some truth to that, I think, despite the hyperbole.
This is the line which got me:
He’s not better, necessarily, but certainly hungrier.
Joe mentions in that interview a UK skater he looks up to who steps to monster street terrain.
I’d argue that this person out-gnars him. At the very least, they step to the same spots so the point made is moot.
Or, look at that list in the other thread of UK pros and really tell me none of them “even look close” to stepping to monster spots.
It’s not a Joe thing. He’s cool. It’s the idea that a writer is kooking him like that. That’s not cool.
Cards on the table - I do think the writer is a prat anyway. Last time I saw him, he showed up to a contest with a shirt on which said “Skateboarding owes me money”.
Working Class Heroes?
Working Class Heroes.

Glad we got that straight
