Mrs wants a little garden shelter and I’m thinking of just trying to botch it out myself. Any suggestions on what type of wood to use and how to treat it?

Any of you lot got a garden office/summer house/log cabin type thing at the end of your garden?
If so, where did you get it? Things to look out for, things you wish you knew before, essentials, things to avoid.
I’ve got an old chicken coop and run that’s about 6m x 3m at the end of my garden and the plan was to get rid of it and use the space to build a home office/space so I can work from home and have space for a ton of guitars and amps and such like away from the house so it needs to be reasonably secure, insulated, kind of sound proofed/deadened but also have electricity/internet.
Any pictures you’ve got would be good.
Thanks in advance.
Get a sauna, my in-laws have one. When I buy a house I’ll have one too.
Costco did a big shed with upvc windows that was pretty reasonably priced a while back. Just had a look online and they have some swanky plastic shed that could be used for an office/guitar shed.
I wish we had a bigger garden.
This would be ideal if it didn’t look like a doll’s house.
It looks like it should have butterflies and fairies painted on it ffs.
I built my own, so much cheaper and I went over and above on the sound proofing too which was most of the cost. Can post some pics later if you like?
Please mate, Im looking at a few options so it’d be good to see what you’ve done
Someone’s doing alright
Would love a garden.
That’s what my Mrs would like. Need to buy a house first!
My mission at the end of the month is to sort out my Jumanji of a garden. I got some special gardening gloves with claws on them.
They’re pretty pimp.
I’ve got a decent sized Compton garage but it takes up the whole garden. Planning to gut it and build a decent sized officey mancave in the red area still debating whether to make it bigger or leave enough room for a car.
Can’t help thinking that’s just a photo you’ve found online…

Yeah I don’t want to get bogged down with foundations as I think that’s where you start getting involved with planning permission.
I’ve seen the shipping containers you can convert but not sure how much they start at.
I’ll measure up the garden and see what I can get in there.
@anon90826813 building outright would be good and I’d enjoy the challenge but think that getting a prefab would be easier and wouldn’t drag on as much, particularly if i’ve only got evenings and weekends to build it.
Foundations V’s slabs or a concrete base?
Since we’ve lived ‘here’ we built a shed from scratch and put together a pre-fab summer house - both on a concrete base.
Shed = Father in law built the frame & I helped / fetched tools / made tea. Then he showed me how to do the shiplapping, felt the roof etc and I made the doors. Still standing 10 years later and waterproof.
Summer house = Bought a pre-fab and simply screwed the panels together / felted the roof. Less than 5 years old and leaks.
Summer house cost a quite a lot more than the shed and wish I’d have built that myself.
