Super late notice, but my friend has 2 tickets for Nines in London tomorrow she is trying to sell.

Anyone on here interested?

Two new LPs from Crippled Black Phoenix today, the Mogwai-adjacent (but much better obviously) band from Johnny Morrow’s former Iron Monkey bassist, and this is (I think) outstanding:

Don’t see the mogwai comparisons personally, sounds like Clap your hands say yeah decided to rock out. Production is a bit sterile but hey, music is music, nothing against it.

I haven’t been driving for long but got a perk the other night. midnight, barely anyone on the road, clear night with this blaring. Felt like a game.

I didn’t say anything remotely close to them sounding like Mogwai. They shared a member for a while.

Cool, didn’t understand what Mogwai-adjacent meant.

I was hyped on the Shook ones cover in the Sk8mafia edit, so went down a little rabbit hole.
Never heard of OMA before, will be checking their stuff out for the rest of today.
This is how Hip hop should be

Are they the ones that were at the RNCM and played MF Doom Coffin Nails and it went viral?

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acXnctWR23Q

Yeah, I think the whole hiphop cover thing sprang from that

I never know about anything that goes viral and usually don’t care.
Kind of gutted that I’m only just hearing this.
What an amazing Doom cover
Just downloaded their album, feel like it is going to be on repeat for a while

Neither do I. Missus went to RNCM so saw it.

Feels like the old days of hearing a track on a skate vid then hunting it down.
Defiantly a lot easer to do these days with that internet thing

cor!

i thought i knew the sample, but didn’t:
it sounds like Herb Alpert with David Axelrod

Moving the metal chat here

I’m not really into progressive metal or whatever you’d call it. I like it how it is.

Post up some metal

did i miss something somewhere?

unfortunately the “biggest” (most popular) metal album this year is likely to be Linkin Park’s new album. it sounds exactly like you’d expect it to. their soundcloud rapper is more soundcloud than ever. it has potentially some of the worst songs i’ve heard in ages. my kids love it.

Opeth just dropped a new album but it’s well proggy and i just can’t.

this American (sigh) death metal band called Blood Incantation dropped an album recently that everyone has gone mad for but it’s even more proggy -

i like my death metal to be Scandinavian (or French) and preferably not proggy. been a bad year

In the footage thread (i think)

I can’t hack most metal but i do like this. Guitar tone from hell, wicked drumming, daft soloing

Im avoiding the sub genre names cos I’ll probably get it wrong
