I think it’s of equal value and is as interesting but it’s just a different topic. Although, I can see that the subject matter wouldn’t have the same wide reaching appeal that the street spot thing does.
I posted an Iain Borden and Patrick Sean Quinn interview in the Concrete Reality thread a week back. It mentions Livi, Rom, Kennington, Harrow and a bunch of others in respect to the preservation and documenting of the heritage of second wave (late 70’s - early
80’s ) parks. Those guys could do a pretty good job of covering that side of things if they chose to.
Didn’t really know where to put this Slap bite.
That it’s so in-depth on the spot history and still backs everything up with the original footage is pretty staggering. Especially given the inherent laziness of much of Hegemonic Skateboarding’s output.
This Toronto spot deep dive is worth your time. And it’s in the same vein as Ted Barrow’s stuff, albeit less academic and more scene ethnography minded.
Ignore the clickbait aspects - they work, hence me reposting it. You get lots of TJ Rogers and 2 Jeff DeChesare NBDs.
