the social media thing is a massive problem because of the echo chamber it makes for people with extreme views and the radicalising effect is has on moderates. i know too many people who went full retard in the last year because of mild exposure to conspiracy bullshit
internets fucked yo
look at us here. because of ukskateforum we now think it’s acceptable to wear loafers with no socks
No we don’t, because we’re smart enough to make our own minds up.
People going absolutely all out for a cause, ‘good’ or ‘bad’ killed it for me. If you can’t get a tattoo of it or wave a flag around people aren’t interested. Nobody’s interested in finding out details and making their own minds up. Headlines are getting stupider, Twitter is an absolute cesspit now, and people want convenient, popular causes to get behind rather than finding out why things got to this shambles in the first place and learning a bit more about what can be done. Because likes and shares, thoughts and prayers, don’t really do it.
I’m very similar in that I ditched Facebook (again) and mostly come here (angry / depressy threads muted) or to Insta. It all helps to keep the negative noises out.
I do have a small bone to pick with the fashion advice this place is offering lately, but that’s one for the appropriate thread.
I just ruthlessly unfollowed or unfriended negative types on FB, now it’s just filled with Onion posts, skating, pictures of various pets, food, cars and very occasionally posts from people I actually want to hear from but don’t necessarily speak to too much.
Just went and skated flat at the car park behind the community centre in my village on my lunch break. The world feels great again. Thanks for letting me vent this morning
Holy fuck, all I’m seeing lately is people writing ‘should of’ or ‘must of’ instead of must have and should have.
Not just on here but fucking everywhere.
Maybe this is the natural change of language scholars bang on about, we’re watching it happen in real time.
Don’t become teachers - it’s unavoidable and something I correct daily.
Theory is that it’s because people write less generally and thus base their spelling/grammar on spoken English these days.
Should have contracted to ‘should’ve’ sounds like ‘should of’ when spoken so people assume that’s the correct version.

Not necessarily not stoked but Just lately I have started to smell different, haha.
I have never been a smelly person, never have BO particularly but of course you get to know your smell but I have been eating less meat and way more fish so must have something to do with it. I don’t want to smell fishy.
