They were absolutely shite when my sister’s ex put my parent’s dining room window through when she was still living there, home alone. Lobbed a brick through it at about 23:00. Bloke was a total manbaby (he was 35 and when they started going out, and she was 16) and was tantruming because she’d broke up with him. Before then he was ringing my mum at work saying he was going to wait for her outside and kill her, all sorts of shit, so it wasn’t even like it was an isolated incident. This is maybe 6 or 8 years ago, though. They turned up a couple of days later and did nothing about any of it because they couldn’t prove it. The abuse continued “last time it was your window, next time your face” etc etc for a few weeks, and what stopped it was my dad ringing the police and saying that if they didn’t sort it, we were going over there and taking it into our own hands. I don’t think anything ever came of it in terms of charges, but they definitely went round to him, and as far as I’m aware, the abuse stopped on that day.
There’s a lot more to the story than I’m telling, but it’d be way too long for a single post.

Bloke came out early this morning, measured it all up and quoted £100 for the 2 big panes and the one on the door. I’m no expert on glass/windows but I can only assume he’s being a solid bloke and doing it for cost of materials if that. Door panel is fucked so that’ll need replacing but atleast it’ll be somewhat sorted for the time being.
@markg already on it, ordered a bunch of IP cameras, dug out an old PC and threw a spare 1tb drive in it. Gonna run power and ethernet up into the loft later.

Not that it helps but it’s massively likely to be kids on the rampage and they’ll be way too scared to come anywhere near the street again. I don’t think you should worry about them coming back, at least.

What a nightmare. Police shocking, unfortunately I’m not surprised.
My sister in law had similar. In a nutshell her now-ex husband was being a dickhead with a knife, police came and chased him around the garden a bit.
Police Advised my SIL to go and stay with her parents rather than arrest the dickhead, so whilst her and my niece went from her parents to a rented flat (whilst still paying mortgage!) he got off free and stayed in the house until the divorce was settled and the house sold.
She never slept in the house again and by the time it came to sell he’d pretty much ruined it.
Not wanting to trivialise the situation but this proper creased me up for some reason

Christmas is a week away still and already got two massive family arguments going on. Two people want to sit in a warm theatre for 3 hours with hundreds of other people the day before to watch Panto then come round our house with the rest of us “because Omicron is just a mild cold” and two others are sulking cos they’ve both bought identical presents for the kids and neither wants to back down

Just chucking money at xmas and not even checking balances or sticking to a budget. While I’m buying for others it can’t hurt to get a little something for myself surely.
Im sure I’ll be able to sort it out by the end of January.
