House of Vans closed indefinitely. Had no idea.
Events industry decimated.
With no end to this in sight, looks like I’m off to figure the next part of my life out. It’s been fun.
Peace out
Someone should live stream their gig behind a paywall.
Not until this virus has fucked off. Cancel stuff or Postpone is the option and with no set time for this to blow over, people are seeing all work for the next 6 months just vanish.
Forced shut down is what we need
Dad called me today to tell me that my 93 Yr old gran had a fall and they found her when they went to do her hone visit today.
She’s been taken into hospital.
Possibly not the best time.
Oh mate that’s rough… Hope shes doing okay. Keep us informed.
Well fuck me my aunty has just contacted me to say my grandad fell off a ladder and is in A&E as well. Jesus fuck. Fuck this week. Hope it’s all good with you Mush.
Hope all is well with you and yours too.
As for my Grandma, not much news.
Last my Dad told me was that she was awaiting a consultant.
Sending positive forum vibes to everyone who’s boats are being rocked at the moment. There seems to be a lot of it about.
Working from home as of today for the next 6 weeks. I work for a large London theatre and it’s highly likely we’re going to lose a significant (100’s of k) portion of our yearly income due to cancelations of future shows. The government has done absolutely nothing to support or advise arts organisations of what to do in the current situation and things are only going to get worse.
It’s one thing for a 1000 seater venue to struggle, its going to be a case of potential closures for smaller arts and music venues.
Also, I rang my parents last night. They’re both in their mid 60’s and my mum was telling me how my dad is still booking in jobs (he does electrics/woodwork/kitchen fittings etc) and how she is popping out to book club and coffee mornings this week, and how they’re still taking communion at church.
STAY INSIDE MUM, YOU’RE OLD
Off on a bit of extended paternity but I usually work from home anyway. All our clients are hospitality/retail/wellness, and our service isn’t exactly essential, so this will be interesting.
Just got off the phone from my mate who runs a label and DJ’s etc.
They’ve canceled all their tour bookings which is a huge chunk of their income.
Clubland is a mess and the whole insurance loophole is a fucker.
He’s saying he’s fortunate that he also runs courses online teaching people music production to keep some income flowing.
My parents are flat out ignoring all advice. It’s doing my head in because they just won’t listen and feel like they’re being targeted by Boris (despite their age group being core tories)
told my dad to stay in as my mum (both 73) is shitting herself about this. phoned her earlier, hes gone to get a haircut. fucking bellend
I swear the 70 - 79 age group is a second teenage time of life. My parents are uncontrollable
Mrs started a new job a couple of weeks back, they just sent an email out offering 3 months unpaid leave to everyone. Officially starting to shit some (small) bricks now.
I keep getting told about how WW2 never stopped him so this won’t. He was fucking two years old at the time.
Mine keeps going on about how his generation survived some terrible flu in the 70s and therefore have a tougher immune system than we do
Caught my sixty something neighbour over the garden fence earlier.
He potters around in the garden because of the amount of spare time he has.
I asked if he was making sure he was leaving himself some more to do in case we end up being totally restricted in movement.
He said “bahh, I’m going out anyway, I’m fit and healthy enough”.
Going to be tough to stop people from doing what they’ve become so accustomed to.
