I’ve been sent this by 3 separate people at work today.

I feel like a naked mole rat.

I remember when the dude with a beard where I used to work came in clean shaved like the above, absolutely amazing as he used to rip me for not being able to grow a beard and came in with a fucking chin like that hahaha.

I just saw Big Woody’s is closing on insta.
I don’t have any spiritual tie to the shop but I’ve been aware of its existence since I first started buying skate magazines some 20 odd years ago.

Always seemed like a real family run shop.
Truly hard times for shops at the moment.
Respect for all the shop heads that are weathering the storm

Sad news. Never been there but is the shop at Ramp City? Will the skatepark stay open?

Classic. Did it on my head once and had to go full zero grade skinhead

Yeah, really gutted to hear this too, end of an era. Woody has done everything he possibly could for skateboarding around here since forever. I’ve not spoken to him for ages so no idea what’s going on with the park, although he doesn’t own/run it just has always been heavily involved with updating and maintaining it.

Are there many skate shops left in the north west, outside of Manchester and Liverpool? 20 years ago it seemed like every mid sized town had one (RIP Bluetubes and Scene).

Off the top of my head I can only thing of is working class hero’s and not sure they even count as a ‘skate’ shop anymore? And KatesSkates in online only these days.

Edit - quick Google shows a couple of shops around Chorley and Blackburn way

We have a very small one as part of our skatepark in Carlisle. Project 1, it’s run by a guy called Steve who’s originally from Margate area. When he came up here he was shocked we didn’t have an indoor park so he’s pushed hard to make one and he now carries a small selection of hard goods. He’s a BMX/Surfer.

Other then that the nearest SOS is Native or Note/Black Sheep

Working class hero’s carries skate gear and a large portion of the workforce skate and bike and are good dudes they’ve helped out with lots of events and hook locals up however shop-wise it’s generally more men’s apparel fashion and less skate rat.

Edit just realised you mentioned them already.

Woody is relatively old right…

Is retirement a factor perhaps?

In Melbourne, there’s a whole contingent of skaters who are now in their early 60s and now seem to be skating more than ever as retirement age looms.

Managers meeting at work in 4 mins. I’m shaking.

Literally in tears this morning trying to work out some revenue calculations with limited help. Don’t know why I’m so overwhelmed with it.

Presenting data on a new brand, but I’m so confused with some of the reporting.

I had my yearly review last week and went really well, I don’t know why I’m so stressed.

Playing Badminton tonight and going skating Thursday, hopefully that makes me feel better.

I get that feeling when I’ve been stuck on something for way too long (i have to fill out a timesheet).

I always have to remind myself I work in marketing… the stakes simply couldn’t be lower.

If we fuck up, no one dies.

Good luck man :+1:

You think that’s bad, I used to manage the intranet at Orange/Everything Everywhere, there’s absolutely zero chance anyone will see or appreciate anything I ever did there. Even archive.org won’t have scraped/screenshotted it as it wasn’t publicly accessible. Absolutely crushing for motivation :trophy:

Wait, that’s what EE stands for? Mind blown.

Went fine, apparently was good, I’m just trying to smash like three systems worth of figures together to get an overall rev, and then adding in Shipping for each region I cover, just fucking complicated for a 5 minute slide I present.

Sounds like a 4 tab Google sheet and chatpgt to help you get the formulas need job to me.

I would have done that, but I got given the figures like an hour before the meeting and then had to manipulate them.

Anyway, just had therapy was good. Really need an ADHD / Autism assessment as she thinks a lot of my reactions to situations are linked to that.

Well that doesn’t sound very fair (the being given stuff late bit). Sounds like you styled it out good.
