Just discovered that my wife used a whole heap of very expensive double sided tape to fix a very cheap plastic laundry basket.
She used it like it was normal tape to be clear.
Link to the legit GoFundMe to help with funeral costs etc for Doug McLaughlan. Please donate if you feel you can.
Obviously a minor not stoked compared to Doug.
Think I left my wallet on the bus coming back from watching the football yesterday. I wasn’t battered, had two beers, think my brain is fried I’m general .went bus depot today have filled out some online bollocks, just gunna go back tomorrow to the depot. Super close to my house.
There was like 60 notes in it and some back cards. But there’s some photos in there I can’t ever get back, little man, loads of shit with my Mrs. Some weird personal shit
Hopefully someone took the cash and handed it in. Fingers crossed.
Also going to America have fuck all money trying to change my flights so I can just go to Boston for 4 days.
Stress level maximum.
Thoughts with those on hear missing Doug. Used to see him all over the north a couple of times a month twenty odd years ago. First on the sesh and last one to leave. Always greeted you with a big smile and some sort of witty comment. Rest easy pal.
Just got a 4k bill for our share of restoring the staircase in the hall of our building from the cooperative. We live on the ground floor. Could have done without that at the moment.
You’ll have seen in the photo thread that I’ve been rebuilding a deck…
I originally guestimated that it would be about $1k in timber and then a bit more (~$200) for screws, supplies, anything I didn’t have tool wise etc.
Just calculated it all so far with another trip to the lumber yard tomorrow and it looks like it’s crept close to $2750.
Oops.
Bet you saved a bunch vs getting a tradie in though. Looks wicked, I’d be stoked to build something like that.
True, think we were quoted around $12k ballpark to do some repairs, but they would have found all the issues that I did, so probably closer to $15-20k.
It was a lot of fun and totally alien to what I’ve done in terms of work for the last 20 years, so feeling very satisfied with it.
Just out on a solo off-road bike ride and have snapped my chain whilst in the middle of nowhere. Had to call my wife to come and rescue me. Going to have to push, scoot and hillbomb my way to the nearest access road which is miles away. Could be worse. As Raemers said, ‘’ It’s a lovely day. The birds are singing, the sun is shining, what more can you ask for?" (Other than a spare chain or at least a link puller).
Yep, it’s happened to me a couple of times so I never go on any ride without a chain breaker and quick link.
drop your saddle and ‘run’ the bike home. like a kids bike.
Got a dropper post so that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for the past hour. That, and pumping the hell out of any slight bump or dip when coasting on the flat. Hillbombs have been cool. Just got to the rendezvous spot. Now chilling and awaiting the arrival of the rescue team (wife and dog).
Done it myself, that or a burst tyre that blew out the sidewall, replacing the tube was a waste of time as it would just burst again, nice walk home though
I carry around “tyre boots” of different sizes fashioned from cut up plastic bottles. Definitely worth doing if you go into the middle of nowhere. Bit of a different kettle of fish if you’re running tubeless though.
Car keys stopped working. New battery didnt work either. Set the alarm off getting in with the hidden key then took a good five minutes to turn it off.
Going for a nice meal with the missus this weekend, thought “i’ll treat myself to a new shirt” - ordered two to try.
One, a nice dark green, seemed to be made from similar material to a high vis vest, the other, black, somehow made me look like Tony Soprano
So that’s a keeper then.
