Apparently he had sleep apnea and died in his sleep. One of his friends is in a skateboard collecting group and posted up earlier today.
Aw man. Horrible.
The advent of ai and pure disinformation from brexit onwards has completely and utterly fried people’s brains, the amount of absolute waffle I hear at work from people 50 plus is astonishing.
I’ve said it before, but computers, phones and tablets need to come with licenses. Can’t drive a car without one, you’re expected to know how to use one safely, computers on the other hand are a gateway to any nutter to spout hatred as far as the russian bots will let them
I don’t want to be too nanny state but genuinely believe there should be misinformation/propaganda (call it what you want) classes for everyone.
I’ve always liked this resource as it shows people what is driving all this:
Was on the tube yesterday absolutely internally raging because literally everyone on the train was either watching videos without headphones or was on a video call with speaker phone.
Mobile data should be 10x more expensive. Cheap data has been the downfall of society
Edit. I know that’s not what your point was about, but it’s a lack of responsibility in general
Yes and people are too often very self-centred and have zero spatial awareness.
I recently went food shopping with a hangover on a Saturday morning, it definitely made me hate a lot of people.
TBH, you’re probably closer to the point than I was. I work in IT and it baffles me that people can’t follow the simplest of instructions - I once asked someone to take a screenshot and send it to me, gave them the instructions, they literally tried to photocopy their screen - but give them unlimited data and all of a sudden they’re out there spreading hate and bile as far as the net will take them virtually without any consequences because they shared an AI picture drummed up by some fat sweatball with a hard drive full of dodgy content and nazi leanings who is angry at brown people because he can’t get someone to touch is winkle.
Estonian is so fucking hard. Had an email from the people that manage our building, they are usually of note, and I’ve just had a streak of 365 days on my Estonian language learning app so thought I would try to translate it myself rather than be lazy and use google translate.
Anyone want a go?

Autod peatuvad linnaosade poolt kokkulepitud peatuskohtades ca 30 minutit.
Põhja-Tallinna linnaosas ootavad autod elanikke pühapäeval 11. mail järgmistes peatuskohtades:
Not the faintest. It’s so disheartening. A year of trying to learn this fucking language and anything but simple baby language is just impossible.
(It was about hazardous waste collections btw. And ‘mail’ does not mean ‘post’ in Estonian.)
Yeahhh chatgtp - I have to do this a lot as I get sent loads of languages to “just translate” and anyone who says they can translate always can’t do it for a week and I’m always given yesterday deadlines.
Never had any catastrophic fuck ups, a few picky bits here and there as expected but over all I get away with it.
Dear Apartment Association Manager / Property Owner,
On two weekends in May — the 10th–11th and the 17th–18th — the Tallinn Circular Economy Centre is organizing collection rounds for hazardous waste and reusable items. This offers Tallinn residents a convenient opportunity to hand over both hazardous waste and usable items near their homes.
On May 10, collection rounds will take place in Kristiine and Pirita. On May 11, they will be in Põhja-Tallinn and Lasnamäe. The following weekend, on May 17, they will be in Nõmme and Haabersti, and on May 18, in Kesklinn and Mustamäe.
In each district, two vehicles will operate during the collection rounds — one for hazardous waste and one for reusable items. These vehicles will wait for residents at pre-announced stops, agreed upon by the district authorities, for approximately 30 minutes.
In Põhja-Tallinn, the vehicles will be waiting for residents on Sunday, May 11, at the following stops:
I only know one word in Estonian: takso (which means taxi). As far as I know Estonian is in the same language family as Finnish which does mean it’s really hard to learn. I imagine using an app isn’t the best way to learn though. Have you taken classes or thought about a tandem language exchange?
I haven’t been to northern Europe in sooo long. I love all the Nordic and Baltic countries I’ve been to. Summers there are incredible.
Google translate tends to be ok, as does chatgpt as long as the text doesn’t involve sex or time as there’s no differentiation between genders in some cases and no future participle
As an example my 4 year old, when speaking English, always refers to people as ‘him’ regardless of sex, even his mum or grandma
What the fuck is wrong with this country - I’m picking the Mrs up from Stanstead (ballache) - £10 for 30mins parking / £18 for an hour.
£18 wow.
Currently sat at the services 10 minutes away because I point blank refuse to pay that. Will wait by the entrance to the parking on double yellows and wait for her to come out.
If it’s anything like the petrol station at Glasgow Airport there’ll be security cameras and you’ll get a ticket in the post.
Checked 2 hours free
Mid stay is free for pick ups but you got to wait for a bus to take you there from outside arrivals
Yes my dad makes me take the bus even when I have the kids and he offers to pick me up
Haha savage. I managed to style it out on the double yellows for a bit
Some absolute fabricunt has been playing gabber all night. I feel like tracking it down but not sure what id do. Time of writing this, 5.45 am
Hi @anonymity.
Thank you for sharing the GoFundMe link, it’s much appreciated.
Just to clarify, the GoFundMe wasn’t set up for funeral expenses - that would have been paid for privately without a second thought, if it had been an option for us to give Doug a send off he was deserving of.
It’s extremely complicated & an ‘if you know you know!’ situation & people know privately/offline what happened & what is happening.
The GFM will be updated in a few days & there will be a hopefully well attended huge celebration jam for Doug’s life at a time yet to be arranged (with Cath included), in addition to a permanent tribute to him put in place at Hyde Park & things done going forward in honour of him.
Beautiful.
A real thought out tribute to a man who indeed was “without a doubt, the most charismatic person” anyone that met him years back saw that or on a good day in later years could still light up a room, but also had his flaws, as do we all.
