Rate Brophy to be honest.

The interesting question is, maybe skateboarding doesn’t actually need that many street pros in their mid 30s?

Yeah I rate him, he’s rad just his situ is def not one because he’s a footage machine to advertise the business.
Thing is, we’re over here and we have no clue what Girl do over there, they might do loads of demo’s and Brophy is perfect for that, he’ll just have to ollie over shit and get the kids stoked. When we say companies are done, we forget that we only see their video/online output, they might be really active with their scene and doing well with their public.

The WKND/Johan Stuckey situation is horrible:

His behaviour is absolutely indefensible, Johan had to go, but Grant Yansura had to cut ties with his best friend.

Impressively quick turnaround from all involved, here. Three days?

Hopefully Crailtap is paying attention.

What is cancel culture? And is a rape culture a thing? My god.

Jesus christ that thread on slap. A massive proportion of adults do have herpes of one kind or another but to knowingly have it and not warn someone or take any precautions is a dick move

I guess it’s all of those small misogynistic things which go towards downplaying the seriousness of rape or normalising sexual assault. Like the mate who makes the ‘9 out of 10 people enjoy gang rape’ joke.

This one’s a bit harder to define. It’s usually used by people who are reacting to what they see as a new fashion for shaming people in authority or who are (semi-) famous for indiscretions or offensive language, past or present. So something like the Weinstein scandal, where there’s a campaign to get Harvey banged up for being a rapist, is dismissed by arseholes as just ‘social justice warriors’ getting het up about things in the past. Maybe that’s too extreme an example where the individual is clearly in the wrong.

Cancel Culture is getting a bit out of hand. It gets used to blame for anything that is not successful these days. Like a film not meeting box office expectations, the film studio or director will blame cancel culture, people not going to see a film for sexist reasons say … when the film might just look shit. You can’t blame no-one going to see a film the audience just didn’t want to watch.
Also see studios attacking their fan base before the release of a film then getting all twisty when the fans don’t go and see the film, ‘cancel culture’ haha.

I think these flash points are really interesting. Like when all the Star Wars fans kick off that there’s a same sex kiss or whatever, and this minority becomes the focus for the media for a few days, but in reality the majority aren’t bothered and the film will/won’t be a success regardless.

Seems like he was reaching out due to guilt in hindsight.

Hopefully he can make some amends.

So the be clear on what i’ve read - he had consensual, unprotected sex with someone but he had herpies and didn’t tell her and so willingly passed it on to her? If so, that’s pretty low. Even if he was ashamed of having it (which is understandable), as a decent person you would either wear protection or tell your partner.

I’m not a fan of calling people out on social media, but thats pretty horrible behaviour and he deserves some repercussions from it.

Social mdeia is the new real life.

Sadly yeah. People actually look up from their phones as an escape now.
