Forgot my pin number yesterday at the petrol station. Its completely gone out of my head. I dont think I’ve not had to use it in so long. My wife was not please when I came back to the car and asked her to pay.

My six-digit CAMRA membership number is one number away from my childhood home phone number. If the 3 was a 4 it’d be the same.

One of my mate’s mobile number is one digit away from my dad’s

My girlfriend’s phone number is the same backwards as it is forwards. It’s the only other mobile phone number I know off by heart aside from mine.

I used to know most of my mates’ numbers as I got a mobile later than most people but I just realized that I also only know my number and my girlfriend’s now. Mad how our brain functions differently since we got those things. Goodbye memory.

I still remember my parent’s shop and home phone numbers from childhood. Not that I need to call these numbers, but still…
I read about a study a few years back which said that because we rely heavily on being able get information easily online, we don’t necessarily remember the details of what we read or searched for, only how to remember how to find or search for it.

Does anyone know a good business bank account?

Actually if they’re excited about having been on TV, probably not.

Lol

Didn’t N26 pull out of the UK? Definitely did for consumer, maybe business was different

neddy, if you’re a sole trader you can use your regular bank account

Will be a Ltd company mate.

My business is with Santander and it’s a business account but we don’t have any charges because we’re not limited.

Ah just seen you’ll be LTD. What are the reasons in doing that by the way?

Because of the manufacturers we would potentially deal with. Being a sole trader would not be a good look.

Fair enough.

Really bad idea to do this - anybody who’s self employed should be keeping their personal and work accounts separate. If banks think that you’re using a “normal” personal account for business purposes, then all they’ll do is close it, which is not that big of a deal in itself, but using your own personal account for work is a total clusterfuck when trying to keep things organised and separated.

Realistically, it generally only becomes financially viable to be limited once your turnover hits £70k or so. I’ve had to work with umbrella companies as a sole trader in the past, look into this - it’s usually done via consultancies and recruitment agencies though. Definitely have a proper talk with an experienced accountant in your field about what would be the best plan and once you get this off the ground, make sure that when your register with the HMRC, you do those workshops they offer about how to pay VAT (definitely look into the flat rate scheme), what’s an allowable expense, how to set up payroll, blahblahblah. The local office in Bristol did a load of these when I went official in 2010/11 and it was a massive help.

Also, I’ve been using this super handy accountancy and invoice tracking software for the past 8 years called Freeagent. Here’s a 10% off referral code if you’re interest - Simple accounting software for UK small businesses - FreeAgent

Not so sure. If you’re essentially a consultancy I can’t see there being too many overheads, it’ll just be paying tax tax on your invoices minus any expenses or am I missing something obvious?

Though you’re talking about going ltd so it doesnt matter anyway.

This for an e-commerce store we are setting up.

One of the partners still works within the chosen industry for a reputable manufacturer. They wouldn’t touch a sole trader with a barge pole unless they are buying from them obviously.

Consultancy stuff for the that is slightly on the back burner. As we need a business account to purchase initial pieces through etc.

No real overheads unless potentially shipping at some point.
