Oh man.

Hopefully we can still slag off Carumma, and Google won’t notice.

Went to a Grayson Perry show last night, was good.

Spotted a board next to his desk on one the videos he showed - possibly this board

Anyone on here ever retaken A-Levels as an adult?

No but quite fancy doing some A Levels in stuff I’d like to know a bit more about like psychology, politics, sociology etc
Degrees a bit heavy on top of family and work

That seems really pointless when you can learn on the internet.

I went and did a level 4 qualification in arboriculture, which is around the same level as a foundation degree when I was 30.

I hated it. But that might if been because I had to fit it around my full-time job.

Doing a Masters now, and it’s the most pointless waste of money I’ve ever experienced.

Not pointless, been learning on the internet my whole career.

This is specifically required for a degree course I’m looking at doing in a few years time (maybe). Required even for mature students. Not doing that imminently though, need to save enough to not work full time. So a few years off.

How come? I guess you’re not really getting the full experience with covid etc

That’s mental they require it to do the degree.

Yeah, thank fuck I’m not. It’s just really basic, and because it’s what you’d normally do after a four-year undergrad it’s basically, ‘This is a thing. Now you go off and do a thing yourself’ but if you’ve ever read the news, or a book, it’s pointless. I genuinely believe my Zoom-classmates fall into that category though. Some young people are very stupid.

I think if you want to do a course in what you already do, you need to watch that you don’t end up doing a shit version of whatever it is you do, for no pay.

Ah yeah gotcha. Felt the same when I went to uni the first time, was surrounded by idiots. Hated that course though, wasn’t even interested in it, I just went because it was “the done thing”. Then I quit.

The only reason I want to do it again is because I eventually want a complete career change, to something I actually care about. Would be pointless for me to do a degree in what I do now.

Knowing me, I’ll probably never do it though. But at least if I do the required study then it keeps the options open.

That’s it. I’m waiting to hear if I can defer the second half of my course for two years because I’m too busy for it, but I do want to have ‘something to fall back on’ when the entire world goes tits-up.

Feel like I should do a coding course really.

Ah, the internet. Source of bona fide facts 100% of the time. You’re right.
