Does anyone have any experience with getting a refund from booking.com?
Booked 2 nights in a place in Devon in December and when we got into it found it wasn’t the same place from the photos, everything a bit broken, really grubby, front door didn’t lock, just a shit hole.
Spoke to the booking.com help people and told them we were leaving and want a refund because it wasn’t the place advertised regardless of it’s condition and went to stay somewhere else.
They now say it’s up to the host to provide a refund who is ignoring us, all they say they can do is refund their £8 commission.
Cant chargeback from the card because it goes to booking.com first not directly to the host.
Fuckers.
As far as I understand it, Booking.com is just an agent and your contract is with the people who own the property. If they’re being dicks and not responding I’d run a dispute/recall through your bank. Normally if it’s within 3 months you can pull the cash back, then the recipient has to get into it with the bank. I bank with NatWest and you can do most of it through the app.

Yea the fucker on the phone assured us we would be refunded too but neglected to tell us he just meant the portion that they take not the full thing .
It’s not crazy money, like £100 but then booking somewhere else last minute more than doubled the price for still not a fancy place.

I did one a couple of weeks back. They said 12 weeks but ended up taking 2.
Tried to buy a bottle of water from a vending machine at the airport. Rather than just punching in what you want, you have to scan a QR code and register with your Google account or email. I will die before I agree to do that. Righteously dehydrated now.
