These are all one person though, right?

I think the late 90s were pretty typography based. Logo boards and logo annimation on skate videos.
Sort of tech brands had very logo based boards. I’d say Blueprint, Rythmn, Aesthetics, later Planet Earth, Media, those types of brands but they are obviously fairly dated now. I was in design college 94-97 and I was doing loads of tech typography but it was all pretty of the time/wank looking back.

Fos has made a living from his style of writing too. Did all the Altamont stuff along side Heroin Skateboards.

Thomas Campbell has a pretty distinct style too.

The only 3d stlye writing I can think of is the Santa Cruz logo. Dunno if that’s any help?

I did think of fos but I think it being called Heroin might make it unacceptable. I was trying to remember who did the cliche boards with the letters with the filled in spaces but I cant seem to find out, someone here will know for sure.

thanks for the suggestions all

yea It’s tricky trying to think who a moody 14 year old will give a shit about these days, I was even thinking chocolate might be a bit past him.

Yep. Have added his full clip

Sniper’s Dream! I’m still laughing out loud at that one! I’d forgotten IKEA!

Sounds like you have a friend in common with Bob Mortimer.

These are all incredible, for names sticking though I think I’ve got you all beat…

When a park opened in my village I was probably at the peak of the little skate ability I had, so the younger kids maybe looked up to me a bit, one of the first times down there there’s a kid skating that’s maybe 11. I asked him his name and he just looked all shy and embarrased, I asked again trying to encourage him out his shell a bit… no response, so I say to him “If you don’t tell me I have to call you something, I’m just gonna call you… Eddie” and anytime he did a trick I’d say “Yeah Eddie!”, all his mates at the park started calling him Eddie, so everyone at school called him Eddie too, this is at the start of secondary school so the teachers got introduced to him as Eddie, then his mum and family starts calling him Eddie, and now its just his name…

He’s married now and his wife calls him Eddie, kids know him as Eddie, he’s Eddie on all social media and at work… I just renamed this kid, his name is Luke…

Can relate to this. I got my nickname when I was about 8 so there’s probably loads of people I know who don’t know my real name.

(boring nickname and boring story to mine so won’t bother explaining here).

You have a cool real name though.

When I first started skating at school I was basically “dude” then later I was “jesus”. Both very obvious and no idea who coined the second one but it stuck for a while after even after I cut my hair off.
Nicknames are usually obvious as fuck.
Really early on at primary school people got names, Gamon, Question, Mars man, Isaac (not his name just had abnormally large eyes)

I’ve managed to collect a few nicknames for myself over time. These include:

chas
chas one
chas o’clock
Reg
Ron Cider
Nautica Belt

Trying to remember some others from our group:
Grill aka MG Grill aka London Grill
French
Race Wheel
Weasel
Rat
Brow
Ging aka Munt
70s Lee
Berto
Laup aka Princess
Mingo aka Ninja
