Why do they have lace savers but metal hooks further up?
Are they for people more worried about breaking a lace than skrutching up their grip?
I think they’re meant to be hiking boots, of some sort. Aren’t they waterproof? I’m sure that flap is to keep water rather than griptape away.
“… this re-imagined silhouette, boasting military grade leathers, design details specifically inspired by bikes, skateboarding and Schaaf’s home town of Oakland, CA.”
Military grade, you know
I am SICK to the back teeth of having my shoes blown up by enemy forces. I shall be investing in these now.
It’s subliminal advertising for the American Military…
Es Theory Mids?
Oh wow. Those are fucking disgusting. The Half Cab reimagined by a five year old.
Looks like it says Justin Eldridge on the shoe
Oh that reminds me I must start listening to more Insane Clown Posse
Those Eldridge shoes were amazing, had quite a few, but yeah you’re right about those in particular. Got some weird Jester/Harlequin vibe.
Yeah aren’t those eS ridiculously old?
2006 apparently.

They then did a 1.5 version where they moved the lace flap half way up the laces.
I missed on those but they looked really good, the Garcia shoe from that era of es was lovely:
They were a popular shoe back then, I recall a few of the Es UK guys wearing them a lot. Looked similar to the Emerica Leo Romero shoe at the time.
Garcia 2s were better (slimmer) though. Pretty Romeroesque too.
Some of the eS shoes from around that time were really good at the height of the vulc popularity. A lot of people were wearing the McCrank avers shoe aswell
I had 3 or 4 pairs of Garcia 2s and tons of Square Twos. They were really good.
I even scored a pair of the blue ones that had the Scottish flag on the tongue. I felt super Rattray wearing those, haha.
I still have a pair on unworn brown ones (aka the Penny colourway) but can’t skate them because I have to wear custom orthotic insoles these days and mine were made to fit in Vans Pros. Don’t know if I want to keep them or sell them.
Random one. My dad has had the flattest of flat feet since he was young and needless to say, it got progressively worse with age, plus he’s on his feet all day in his shop. He upgraded the insoles to a more expensive pair and eventually had to get some custom shoes to feet his now deformed feet (which look more like a chimp’s foot), coming in around the €800 mark. Recently went to see a specialist (a former mechanical engineer turned surgeon) who ended up rebuilding his left foot last year. Age, etc. meant the healing and rehab process took aaaaages, so he’s only having surgery on the right one today.
tl;dr - don’t get flat feet, heheh.
I really liked the Rune Etnies too. That was before everything went Vulc.
I got ostheochondritis dissecans, a joint disorder in my right foot, that I got from skating and putting too much pressure on my arch all these years. With these insoles, there’s less pressure on my fucked up joint and I can skate normally. The last two times I skated without them, I skated for 20 minutes and then couldn’t walk properly for 2 or 3 days, everything hurt. With them, I can skate 2 or 3 hours and then my legs and feet feel sore but that’s normal.
TLDR: I got a pro model because I am disabled but I got a pro model. CMOAC.
