Weird. I looked on their insta and it has all these photos of like shoes with biro writing on and customisation etc and I thought, ‘oh cool they’ve got like a history or sub culture of people customising their shoes.’
Nope.
I mean the silhouette of the shoes.
The whole concept, colours and worn out thing is completely shit.
The silhouette is a Poundland Stan Smith. Just get Stan Smiths.

Same deal with those Gucci ‘bee’ shoes and a load of other supposedly high end nonsense. Buying proper Stan Smiths would be a fraction of the price and they wouldn’t make you look like a twat.
That’s it! Like these pricks going, “Well, that’s a classic silhouette, let’s do ‘our own unique take’ on it and stick an extra zero on the price tag”.

Things become classic for a reason and there’s nobody alive who’d look better in these shits than in an actual pair of Stan Smiths.

You’d be amazed in the difference in quality of the general release bog standard Stans and the jazzier ones. Don’t think I would ever get the standard ones as leather and construction is generally crap

Yeah you can get adidas Stan Smiths in nicer materials, but a Gucci rip off of a Stan Smith isn’t going to be any better.

adidas did a slight tweak on the standard Smiths, (see what I did there?), in around ‘93. I had a couple of pairs. They were the same shoe but with an added piece around the the toe so you had a two layer flip wear area. They were a nice pigskin nubuck kind of suede too. I bought one pair and skated them for a few days before going back and buying another. I never saw anyone else with them or any for sale ever again

The vulc version they did a couple of years ago looked cool, wish I’d got some now.
It’s ongoing I think, Stans and Shelltoes are the canvas for most guest collaborations over there.

Those two pairs I had back then were actual Stan Smiths…Stan Smith embroidered label on the tongue rather than the printed name on the side.
I’m still a little gutted that I chucked the last pair before they were properly worn out. Just fancied a pair of Vans and ditched the Stans in a bin outside FTC. Those Vans rubbed my feet raw…karma I guess.
