Dave Mayhew right?
Hahaha, of course!
My first ever skate shoes were Adio Selego V1s and I still maintain they were the comfiest shoe I’ve ever owned.
Yes that’s exactly what we all want to see more of in skateboarding…
It is kind of funny how much he must’ve made from that shoe though and when they did those copies as a team shoe as well:
In my head paying less than £40 for shoes is a bargain right now. Over £100 and I’m like WHAT.
I got some of those super tech Nike Koston flyknit XT things. Not as bad as they look as long as you don’t try to skate in them or wear shorts.
eS Swifts have overtaken the OG Busenitz as my go-to shoe now. Sole is so good, skateable right out the box.
Had some in black and gum.
Nice shoe for chilling and then eventually skated well too.
I’m curious to know now, what the most expensive skate shoe everyone has bought is.
I’m to embarrassed to tell, but it was £85 about 10 years ago
Fuck it, if you want a laugh. I even pre ordered them

K3 I reckon.
Emphasis on the ‘K’.
£85 for me but wouldn’t go above £65 now.
Technically £120 pair of those Lost Art NB Numerics.
Jesus naan! Did you have a job entertaining a King at the time?
Most I have spent on footwear can’t be more than £60. I have had more expensive ones but only when they have been in bargain bins. Had some Circa CM802’s for dossing about in but they were £20
Probably £60, years ago. Since the advent of the Internet I’ve developed a habit of picking up bargains when they pop up. So I just got a pair of Numeric 379s for 35 quid, and I have a pair of 5.10 Impacts for biking sat in a cupboard waiting for my current ones to die.
Keeping an eye out for cheap Nike Pegasus at the moment, plenty of life left in my 35s but it’ll be a while till the 36s are on sale I reckon.
You mean Nike SB aka Nike Skateboarding make skate shoes that you cannot skate in, for 140 euros? Rad.
To be fair most skate shoe brands make a load of clunkers that I couldn’t skate in
Edit: and it’s usually their most expensive model that’s the worst
Everyone I know who had those Kostons loved them for skating
Didn’t pay retail for those 3ST.004s, so maybe the Palace Reebok from last week. Dunks have never been crazy money new.
Not sure Half Cabs are the most core skate shoe ever. Not saying I don’t like them, I’m skating a pair at the moment.
Rip off is a bit strong. Personally I don’t even care if a shoe has taken obvious cues from another in general, all brands are guilty of it. There is a limit though of course, one of the Lakai Koston’s is an example:
Kostons don’t count because he’s been modelling his shoes after Nikes forever. Like he had a gameplan from day one of proshoedom that he was aiming to be the skateboarding Jordan or Tiger Woods.
