Shoes

So in summary, they’re a mish-mash of different bits.

Got an email from Emerica saying they’re bringing back the Heretic - and it doesn’t look like the shite Heretic 3. I loved the Heretic when it was a proper shoe

That looks really good, if they put that at the right price they’ll sell well I think.

£75 on their website, two colours

Think i’ll stick with black and see how they are, then order a second pair if they’re up to snuff

Looks like they’ve rebadged the marana

I never had a pair but my friend skated only the Heretic 2s for a few years and he had the best kickflips, which I’m attributing to the rubber toe.

They used to be £65, so a tad more expensive now but I’m tempted buy a pair if these Louie Cons don’t work out.

*1996

Those Aura were discounted before they even hit skate shops, something to do with some weird distribution. I remember getting them from Schuh (which was like a Scottish version of Office) for £30 or something, and they were like bricks.

Someone should have told the guys at The Consortium then. Shits were going out at full price. Anyway, I bought the Sal 23s and a mate who didn’t skate bought the Auras. Lucky he didn’t skate really given your ‘like bricks’ comment

The SLB mids I bought at £35 a pair weren’t actually in a sale but we’re just mispriced. Probably sold at trade rather than retail by mistake . It was a snowboard shop not a skate shop so I just took advantage.

I had a similar thing happen when I went to get some sails repaired. I went to a sail loft that had been recommended to me and they had a windsurf shop on the ground floor and the sail loft workshop was upstairs so you had to walk through the shop on the way up. I saw that they had a tiny selection of skate stuff in one corner and had wheels at a tenner a set and decks were just over £20. So I snapped up a set of wheels, (can’t remember the brand), and two Chocolate decks - a Jimi Hendrix Gabriel Rodriguez, (half of which I still have knocking around), and a Chico board, the graphic of which I don’t remember. I got a Skull Swank deck at a toyshop one time which was pretty random as they only had three or four decks, all of which were priced at trade. If you’re buying from a non-skate shop I guess all’s fair eh.

What do you call an Italian man wearing Heritics?
Roberto
(rubber toe, get it get it? ok)

Anyway they were never £65 were they? I remember them being the top-selling school shoe for noughties kids, as they were around £45ish, good to skate, and mostly black

Don’t know why I’m commenting anyway, I think they’re horrid

They tried this a while ago, es has the swift 1.5 and emerica had the dissent which we’re all virtually maranas with different logos. Although they came and went very quickly.

The Marana had its ten year anniversary in '22, right?
If so, the Heritic can’t be just a copy of the Marana as it came out around 2006, originally…6 years before the Marana.

That’s true, but that shoe up there ain’t the Heretic it’s the Marana with a new name.

I got a pair of first-run Sal 23s plus a Droors jacket & some blunts in a swap for a Polo Sport windbreaker with a staff member at a skate store in Rotterdam - thinking back now he must have swiped his employer’s stock to swap ha.

The blunts were his though.

Heretics have to earlier than that aren’t they? They were one of my friends first skate shoes and he had stopped skating by the time we were 15 in 2006.

I have a pair of Fos Heretics from 2006ish and I feel like they were the second or third run of the first ones

“Have” - because they’re in a box in a loft in the UK because I could never wear them as they felt like literal tanks on my feet.

The Heretic 2s I mentioned were around 2004/05, so pretty sure the first ones were out around 2002.

Heretics were contemporary with Circa Appleyard MA402, Adio Kenny Anderson V1s, MJ2s and a load of other shoes that I didn’t buy or wear because I wear tennis shoes to skate in . Some of the earliest Nike SBs, (wish they’d bring back the Tennis Classic), were on the shelves alongside the Heretic. My point is that we’re talking 2002 for sure.

  1. I deffo remember them being big in 2002 - 2004, I’m guessing a bit but I reckon they came out in fall '01 or spring '02. Same time as peak Etnies Lo-Cut, Callicut era for Schuh patrons. The shop I worked in at the time sold shitloads of Heritics to schoolkids for a solid couple of years and it shut in '04

  2. It’s Heritic, not Heretic, Emerica spell it wrong on purpose. Very annoying.

  3. Not sure why they’re being discussed in the Shoes Thread, I guess because there isn’t a dedicated thread for house bricks/solid granite

That post should 100% be accompanied by a Wu~Tang soundtrack.
