Shoes

The wall in my room during a Morocco trip with a Duffs Cobnobbler cobbler ad - which dates the photo better than the Thomas Campbell doodle that he futuristicallly dated as 2011.

I saw a hookups board on Saturday, had to double take. First one I’ve seen in about 20 years.

Same here.
First premiere I ever went to and first video which really, really spoke to me.
Although I rarely ever go back to it.

I just watched Jeremy Wray’s section again and he’s wearing Sal 23s not Cobnobblers haha. Doh.

The southbank premier?
Same here , still got the ticket snub, Wray absolutely gob smacking and was the reason I bought 2 pairs of dukes .

Dukes were exactly the same as the first run of sketchers. One or the other must have bought the same design from a factory.
They were identical and a local discount shoe warehouse bought a load of sketchers and they were cheap. I had a good few pairs. Great shoes at the time. They also did cheaper versions of Simple shoes.

:joy::joy: your 100% correct no way on earth would I rock that board at this age

Not only that my wife would not be happy with that particular board lol

Was great when I was young all the other kids thought it was so superior and it did skate great but nothing crazy

The saddest thing about collector groups on facebook isn’t the guys with every colour Vallely deck, it’s the guys with the walls covered in Hook Ups boards boasting about how good the single life is now that their wife left them and they can have any boards they like on the wall.

I posted a Nine Club insta thing a little further back. In it Jeremy Wray explains that, at the time, there was no way of copyrighting design features on shoes, (or maybe there was but they neglected to do it), one could only copyright a logo. So Skechers just took his Dukes design and replaced the logos with a Skechers one and changed nothing else. They even went to the same factory and used the Dukes molds.

Skechers fact: Slap Mag’s Lance Dawes has been studio director for Skechers for nearly ten years now.

Hook Ups incels are a breed unto themselves.

Close second are the ‘build’ guys.

How many builds have you got in your quiver?
Do you prefer a rig when new or a little worn in?

You don’t use them!!! Display purposes only.

A tracker sticker without tracker trucks?!

Sickening.

Also, is there a name for that style/shape of wheel?

I probably shouldn’t have watched that as just afterwards the first suggestion in my YT recommendations was this horror show…

How to fit skid plates to a Kevin Harris reissue. The video should have been how to fit skatestoppers to a Kevin Harris. If the rumours are true then balls to Kevin Harris.

70’s throwback and as such they delegitimise the true historical accuracy of that build.

Would be moderately amusing to rick roll people onto build videos just to fuck with their algorithm

I had to look up ‘Rick roll’ as I had no clue what you meant. First thought was it was an unpopped Rick flip.

There used to be an El Toro (or other large stairs) Rick Roll many, many years ago. Likely lost somewhere on the internet in 2024.
