Shoes

What are the widest skate shoes? I’ve moved onto barefoot shoes all the time to help a bad back and although it worked i now have Frodo feet. Its meant that when I then tried to wear some Vans last night I got blisters like grapes on both little toes.

I saw some pretty wide skate shoes recently but can’t remember where or what they were called? I’m guessing they are a new company because the designs were unlike anything else.

I have wide feet and wear Last Resort. They’re just about wide enough but because they’re soft they quickly change shape to fit.

NB Numeric keep threatening to release a wide model but it never seems to happen.

E’s Accel/slims were pretty wide too but overall I prefer Last Resort.

Keep seeing mentions on instagram of reissues of certain Cab pro shoes.

Are Vans fucking stupid?

I keep reading (from employees) on Reddit and what not there not doing well or were not in the skate department, not sure how true that really is though :man_shrugging:

They must be spending a lot of money making all manner of different shoes, shouldn’t you scale things back if it isn’t going well? I remember one of the old Cab cupsole models being alright, not enough to want a reissue mind you.

Someone has probably mistakenly conflated the popularity of the half cab with the popularity of Peter Pan Man Child.

I think they’re living off past glories. They were part of the emergence of skating in California in the 70s because they were cheap and had grippy soles and they became a cult item. But put them side by side with something like Nike SB and their quality and durability just doesn’t stand up in today’s world.

That was true when Rowley made them cool again though, I don’t think it comes down to quality personally as plenty of the newer models like the Crockett wear pretty well. It’s the designs that seem to be going through a really bad patch but then they’re not alone in that now, most current SB’s stink.

They seem constantly stuck between keeping a core line of the obvious classic shoes, and trying to move with trends and fashions. And they don’t seem to know which way go.

Pretty much like they were in the early 2000s. Lots of stinkers but everyone wanting Rowleys and Era’s.

Seems like they got real big, real fast, so if demand isn’t quite up to what they’ve supplied it’s hard.

Even my mother in law wears sk8 hi’s

I just thought general public stopped buying authentics, old skools and era’s. Would presume that would give them a pretty fucking big hit.

Remember in SS20 the authentic was the road mans crep of choice for a hot minute.

I hardly see anyone wearing Vans now, let alone actual skaters. Very much out of fashion (I guess, talking like a fashion expert lol).
