Shoes

Nike also flooded the market with their products like Jordan’s, Dunk’s, ect to stop the resell hype and it’s just killed any hype all together.
Their shoes are just sitting where once they’d be a queue around the block for drops. There has just been a massive crash in any interest and buying outside of skating too. It’s really back fired.

The dunksplosion you speak of was quite interesting

I’ve always enjoyed some dunks but mostly just watched from the sidelines past few years, and recently they can just keep them lol they have run out of ideas that’s for sure

Rarely see a shop or skate brand collab anymore

Appreciate the insight here. Obviously I’m no longer any part of the industry but this does kind of make sense why Nike have delivered so many stinking shoes in the last few years.
From what I heard/gleaned from chatting to people who used to work for nike - the cull of skaters involved there was without warning and global so I guess what you’re saying is probably true everywhere.

Those people left will probably not be too keen on becoming a truthful feedback loop either given the brutality of the redundancies.
As far as I know, they don’t even have reps who speak to the shops directly any more which also seems unwise but like I say, I don’t give a toss - it’s just interesting.

I can just imagine the lip-biting going on.

“What do you think of these Ishods then remaining-Nike-staff? They’re not stinking, right?”

“Oh yeah they’re fucking brilliant - deffo make more of these cheap looking pieces of shit…”

All sounds very promising.

When do these relaunches ever work?

They should get burnquist back on haha

Actually we’re ok thanks

I suppose es is technically a relaunch which I guess is a success?

All I want are some black Grasshoppers, beyond that I don’t particularly care if they stay around or not.

That éS hiatus was quite weird when you look at it because they called it in 2011 and then I saw a product release list and there was at least one shoe every year (Sometimes Japan only) until it restarted ‘proper’.

I guess it was a hiatus from doing anything other than putting the odd special project out - but it was in no way a total break as. I’d always assumed.

I thought the Japan release was a few years after the hiatus.

Seems like they were in a ‘creative retreat’ for just over a year.

I think that’s the problem right there, all the dads will buy their favourite model to scratch the itch with rose tinted specs then it will collapse

Yep, more than likely! That interview gives me some encouragement though, certainly should fare a bit better than the Axion horror show.

I didn’t buy Ipath before, don’t think I will now.

The Japanese release was one of them.
The list I saw had at least one release every year.
Some were ‘just’ shop collaborations.
Hiatus was only 2011-2014…so we are just talking about 4-5 shoes max.

If the grasshoppers and cats skate as well as they used to I’ll probably hang up my half cabs for a bit
