I was surprised when the news broke that Quincey Jones had died because I thought he died years ago. Similarly, it’s a surprise to learn that Lakai is still going.
Interesting, on the one hand I’m surprised they’re still around as I’ve not been interested in a recent shoe of theirs in quite some time with the exception of the Terrace (which I still didn’t actually buy) but on the other there still seems to be lots of people stocking them and I have seen them about occasionally.
I wish this version of Lakai could be brought back:
You obvs didn’t read his incredible interview in GQ a few years back where he talked about some treatment that’s going to make him live until he’s 135 or something
(That was, by a loooong way, the least wild thing said in that interview)
On the subject of Quincy, this is great:

Is this another ‘buy a company and gut them’ thing like with Dwindle? Real shame if they’re fully dead, I Know Lakai hasn’t really been relevant for a good few years now, but yet another legacy shoe company going down isn’t good.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Lakai, skated them a lot around the FF era - granted I haven’t bought a pair since 2018 and I remember they bagged out really quickly so something seemed to be going on with their quality the past few years.
Wonder what the full story is - if the whole teams gone that’s a lot of people looking for new sponsors
If only there were members of this forum, perhaps working in some capacity within the skateboard industry, who could shed more light on this situation…
Won’t they want to try and sell all the remaining shoes before doing that?
Can Marc Johnson come out of his self imposed retirement now then?
We can dream.
Scratching my head at my pair of black NB 808s. Exact same size UK 9.5 as my brown pair of 808s yet they feel half a size smaller…??
They’re ridiculously tight and never break in. I sold mine on. NB can be a bit odd sizing at times too - my leather 440’s fit, but suede 440’s were smaller
I know my brown suede 808s had a snugger fit than the 1010s and now fit like a glove, but this black pair of 808s just feels tight.
That’s literally all I hear about NB! I’ve had three pairs over the years. I’m a UK 9, and the pairs I bought ranged from my usual size up to an 11.5. AN 11.5 FFS!!
I’ve got a pair of 440 highs in a UK7.5 (which is my size in Nike, Last Resort and Vans) and they fit me perfectly.
So I got a pair of those Villani 417s in a UK7.5 and they were so small I literally couldn’t get my foot into them. I gave them to a mate who’s a UK6 and he says they’re spot on.
I know that there are differences in sizing with shoes that come from different factories, but FFS
Wild isn’t it.
Get on at Baines!
Yeah, an understatement all right!
Changing the chatter to Emerica now. Just got these through the door and they’re bloody lovely. Dare I say it, better than the lows!

Lakai imploding very publicly.
Tbh after reading that it sounds like Rick and Mike need all the help this finance guy can give. It might just be bullshit, but sounds like they were barely hanging on to Lakai anyway
