Skaters aren’t really in to gimmicks for a lack of a better word (after slicks?). Remember those Chapman nose and tail things you could change once they had worn? Heard good things about it but no-one ever bought them form the SOS.
I did that when I was a kid, with a Dogtown Eric Dressen. It doesn’t work, because the curve for the nose or tail is in the wrong place and the nose/tail becomes longer. The whole shape needs to be shorter. I guess they’d be less inclined to do that (although bringing in both the nose and tail truck holes might work?)
A shorter wheelbase means a shorter board not just the holes moving. Man that would fuck my head up having that extra gap between the truck and kick. Do I have to break out my truck tipping point diagram again to educate you fools messing with geometry?
I used to hang out at the distributor for those. We could have ridden them for free, but they didn’t work. The wood would splinter around the plastic inserts. And I don’t want to be looking down at the same old shape for months and months. I like the change. Same with shoes (to bring it back to the topic here). Had some of those Nike SB E-cue when they came out. They lasted me about 9 months. Rad shoe, but I just wanted to look down and see something different after a while!!
I do like that diagram
If you only skate transition then why you trying to get a board that can’t break?
Seems like a proper shit thing to do.
Get the pro board of a transition skater you admire, giving back to them in the process, and feeling like you can do their tricks on their board.
Fuck sake.
The people with the most gimmicky boards are invariably the ones least likely to need that pointkess ‘technology’ anyway.
Why I skate Nora’s. At least she’ll see a few of my squids.
So what’s stopping the rest of the plys from snapping?
What next, weed smoke infused cbd glue for Penny style floatyness?
A layer of helium.
Nigel tried that it seems haha
Sold more Tail Devils than those Chapman bits.
I cannot believe I made that joke and someone has actually tried to market helium in a skateboard.
Fuck.
I’m so manufacturing CBD boards now
Plastic free too, wrapped in hemp paper or some other trendy eco product
I had a natas black top back in the day. Layer of carbon on the top. Utter dogshit, and it was lethal when it started to chip.
Since 2006, apparently!

Nope
Breakage isn’t a problem, but lightness is good. My deck is pretty much my ideal vert specification: 8.25” with a 14.75” wheelbase. The Theeve titanium trucks have been used by Tony Hawk and Tas Pappas. I think Hawk was riding them when he made the first 900. Wheels - Formula 4 99a conical full - are just great for smooth wood. Wide contact patch, don’t slide out unexpectedly, don’t pick up crap in damp weather. I’ve had dozens of different boards, trucks and wheels over the years. Most recently Welcome, Anti Hero, Moonshine, but I’d say my current one is my favourite set-up of all time.
I could be wrong but I’m not sure Theeve are that old.
