SPOILER THREAD: Star Wars

I need to do this over the holidays :+1:

I don’t remember Star Wars having such saucy titles, trolololollll

The music choice is worrying, not Star Wars at all and it seems lighter in tone but I still have high hopes…

Yeah. That sounded so out of place.

I think the lighter tone is a concerted effort to make this series look like a bombastic action series in the Marvel vein, but it’s actually going to be more of the same.

Also distancing itself from the ā€œStar Warsinessā€ could be an effort to get some distance between it and the negative reaction to the last few Star Wars series; Acolyte (which I personally liked but it appears nobody else did), Skeleton Crew being well received but not hitting the viewing expectations, and the cooling off of Mandalorian.

Andor is great partly because of its non-StarWarsiness, eg. no Jedis, not many aliens, no Force talk, no big theme tune.

The theme tune was actually really imporant in the first serise as each eposide had a new added layer to the opening, adding build up until you got the full song and the uprising. Music always felt inworld, if it be orchestral or the Mos Eisley lounge band, they only recently broke away from this in one of the Acolyte credits, it was shit then too.

I really rate this trailer. I’m imagining that the music in S2 will be similar to S1, but the trailer music was designed to get people talking.
The editing is unlike other Star Wars trailers, too. I’m into it.

Either gonna be even worse starwars or hopefully something better. Who knows , it’s never gonna get back its mojo with Disney .

Kennedy has been the main problem with Disney Star Wars in my personal opinion. Can’t wait until someone new is at the helm.

I don’t remember anyone complaining about using Peter Schilling - major tom for Skeleton Crew, granted it was sung in Hutt-ese. The final product will be perfect. I can’t see them doing a game of thrones and having the Hold Steady covering jabbas palace band.

Really looking forward to this.

Watched the first two last night, will watch the third today. I have to say that I thought the second episode was quite flabby and didn’t really do a hell of a lot. I felt like the payoff of that end shot wasn’t really worth having to sit through a school playground style fight.

Remember this is the spoilers thread…

The pacing of the three stories running side by side can be a little jarring at times… slow (the Empire), medium (the wedding), fast (Andor’s mission and the farm).
I thought the opening with Andor and the new girl helping the rebilion was great. Them talking honestly and calmly, waiting patiently before it all kicks off and the weight of her knowing that she can never return to her old life and might even die that night, then him stealing the experimental TIE fighter and all the chaos.
I’m not sure why we needed a bunch of incompetent whatever they were? Low level rebel hires (was their story ever fully explained)? As Andor knew their leader who had abandoned them. It has to be for a later pay off, right? Or just to show how accomplished Andor has become in the last year compared to most? It didn’t really add anything story wise (yet?).
The tension of Mon Mothma walking a constant tightrope is still gripping too, that she could fall off at any moment or be cut by someone else. Everything is just one wrong word away from falling apart for her, while having to keep up so many pretences.
Her dancing like it might be the last time she’ll ever be able to be that free again.
Luthen is great as always, he set up the execution of Mon Mothma’s embezzlement/money hiding guy right? Also loving seeing more of his assistant. She is also turning into another good character. The world building is even better than the first series.
I had seen online spoilers about Bix’s assualt, saying that it happens, I’m so glad she managed to fight him off as I think it would have cast its own dark shadow over it all, that the rest of the serise would have found itself hard to recover from.
Debra and Syrill are almost evil comic relief at the moment. The scenes with the his mother were gold.

Thanks for the summary. I just finished watching the three episodes and was scratching my head at the mother’s deal with the silver haired lover?

So he put money up but somehow didnt see any return so is broke, lost his wife etc and basically saying ā€œI did it for you but I could really do with knowing more or seeing some cashā€¦ā€?
This is considered a major liability by luthen who decides to take the reins and get him shipped off to his death (or not - he’s not dead yet).

What’s tie in with the groom’s gangster dad?
Was the mum going to get the money from him but silver hair stepped up? So all she’s lost is the marriage of her daughter into thr gangsters family?

Was Debra a typo? It’s Dedra. I like Debra though.
Their whole vibe was great.
I think shr might be one of my favourite characters.

Yeah typo…

The Empire started looking into everyones bank accounts and she had too much money unaccounted for, as she secretly funds Luthen and the rebellion. She needed him to help access funds from her families account back on her home planet where he is from, as they are old school friends with a hinted of an old relationship, they are not lovers, that is just her husband being jealous, as they need to talk alone, in secret a lot for obvious reasons. She then sets up a sham foundation that he now heads to keep channeling money to the rebellion, aware the foundation is a front. Now the rebellion are starting to fight back around the galaxy this has had an impact on his and other peoples businesses, his wife has also left him, probably because of this and the way he’s been dealing with it all. Getting drunk and being careless.
The gangster Davo has dirt on Mon Mothma’s husband or they have done some dodgy business before (probably his gambling problem).
She can’t afford any scandal with everything she has going on in the background… now Silver hair guy is borrowing money off the gangster and is in his pocket. Silver haired guy hints at blackmailing Mon Mothma about her giving him money to cover his losses or rat her out to either the gangster or the Empire for money, as why should he keep helping the rebellion when it is hurting him? So he needs to be taken care of.

The inept rebel crew are Gormans, right?

I believe Gormans are referenced in A New Hope…or maybe Rogue One?

Spoiler for a spolier thread - I think there is a massacre involving them which is the flame to the touch paper which really kicks rebel things off.

I guess showing that they were kind of inept gets across the idea that they were no real harm to anyone.
So, if you kill off a ton of them, its enough to start a backlash.

Doesn’t someone else in the episode (Krennic, I think) mention that they needed an inept group to be the fall guys. I think this is going to be the Gormans…And it’ll all tie in.

I said ā€œoh shitā€ out loud when Cinta showed up
