I am kidding by the way, while I haven’t heard any TSwift songs post shake it off, well not knowingly, I do blast out Sigrid’s Sucker Punch album from time to time.
Mine came back saying Drake was my most played artist, but I’m sure I have hardly listened to his stuff this year.
My top 5 tracks were a mess too - from Charli XCX to Nines to Sanguisugabogg

My fav artist this year is The Beatles but I only listened to them one day really, just put a playlist on and didn’t touch my phone all afternoon taking care of various things in the garden.

Yeah, I have been debating it. The CEO seems like a total POS with investments in arms manufacturing. What streaming platform have people migrated to?

I have never done streaming. I try things on YT to test and still buy CDs if I think I might like it, or if too niche buy from Bandcamp.
Arms thing yeah, mental but the way they are pushing their own ai music and that they don’t pay anyone. Artists should be boycotting them too. Let the normies have that platform where they can just listen to the pop charts and ai country.
Was talking about this last night. The problem with Spotify is that it’s too good in terms of ease of use, algorithm, playlists etc. I try to be ethical in the clothes I wear, the food I buy, the things I do - do I have the head space to now add on caring about how I listen to music. It’s so tiring!
Having said that, they used to put a lot of effort into Spotify Wrapped but last year after their layoffs you could really tell it was absolutely lowest effort. Haven’t done this year yet, but not expecting anything good
This year’s Wraped is way better than last year.
I would be keen on switching to a platform that pays artists more. A lot of them seem to be quite tightlipped about this though (probably because they’re paying fuck all). Tidal does seem better, but does it have the same size catalogue? Been on Spotify for well over a decade by this point - would need to spend some time transferring playlists etc.
Can’t see the AI music thing catching on. Yeah, the odd slop band makes headlines, but anyone with a brain isn’t tuning into this shit.

You could offer me Apple/Tidal/whatever for free over Spotify and I wouldn’t cancel my subscription.
