Yeah the average wage is waaaaay down there. The last job I had paid about 30-40% more in the UK. Like if you’re earning over 30k EUR you’re doing ok.
(Just checked average wage is less than half of the UK)

@Mark I thought the average wage was like 26k here or something.
Edit: 31,4k
Idiot read it the wrong way round.
Im on holiday but because the paddling isnt great where we’re staying we’ve done a 170 mile round trip to go swimming in the sea. That may sound fucking stupid but Ive been floating in the sea in crystal clear water (despite the probable gallons of child piss) in brilliant sunshine for the first time in a year and then drove round the corner, went paddling in equally clear water then had fish and chips. Massively stoked.
Where are you?
Staying near Weston Super Mare but drove to Woolacombe. It was busy but fucking lovely. Probably why it was busy thinking about it
Is Weston super mare worth a visit?
Depends what you’re after. But if you’re looking for paddling, or anything that involves interacting with the sea without wading through a good mile of silt then probably not.
To be fair we’ve not ventured into the town yet but there are nicer beaches.
I should point out we’re catering to a 4 year old so our metrics for a successful excursion may differ from yours. We went to Cleveden yesterday and caught a fucking enormous crab then swam in the marine lake then went on a bouncy castle. We went to Burnham on Sea the day before that and my lad pissed on the beach then had an icecream
Glad you had a sick time @BDF beach with the boy is sick but it creeps be out that he’ll be covered in sand and doesn’t care. Haha.
If we’re going to a beach without showers I always pack a 25l container of water and leave it on/near the car in the sun to warm up. Gets the sand off the grom pretty quickly and you don’t have to do that weird thing of towelling the sand off the kid which makes you feel like you’re sandpapering them.
Had an argument with my missus last night, didn’t sleep well but went skating with a good mate this morning, had fun. Worked on a drawing I’m pretty happy with even if it’s not done yet then went skating again and learnt a new trick. It didn’t even take long, I froze when I rolled away from it, equally surprised and stoked. The best feeling. Now drinking beers hoping things are gonna go smoothly when the missus will get back from work. Oh well. We’ll see. Good day.
Just got back from going up Pen Y Fan, was an interesting excursion late at night and it was so quiet there.
Felt proper bo, lemme tell ew.
Birthday week for me and Mrs Snurp, I’m 32 today and doing a wicked pub crawl along Falmouth harbour. Falmouth is dope, I could live here
Not sure which thread? Dykie did it. Ran all the way around Wales. Raised thousands of pounds for Raemers Foundation, Greenpeace and others. What a hero.
I think Ive just worked out who you were
Survived the first week back at school without getting Covid (yet) or having a mental breakdown.
…(yet)
Do you reckon you’ll stick with teaching long term?
Can’t see much alternative really - always going to be work, decent pension, decent (ish) wages if you stick with it for 5 years plus and it allows me to pay back my Karmic debt to society that I ran up by getting paid to talk about kickflips for 20 years whilst everyone else did real jobs.
