…and Lola Tambling.

Now, now, Sky is also half Japanese.

I don’t actually mind Sky to be honest but Andy Mac tracing his roots back to the Mayflower to enter as British (probably). Do one, jog on mate (I wanted to use a purely British phrase to say fuck off).

He’s doing a Greg Rusedski. But I sort of don’t mind too much - good to see a 50-year-old competing at the highest level against skaters less than half his age.

Yeah Owen Hargreaves (Canadian too) played for England. Right now Jamal Musiala (British-Nigerian father and a German mother) played all the way up the England youth teams then chose Germany to play for.

Does it say Andy Mac U.K on any of his X-Games medals/bio/rankings tables? He has competed since the 90’s as an American. It’s such a cynical shitty move in my eyes.

It’s not like he’s the only on doing it.

Cordano, born and raised in USA skates for Canada.
Lizzie at last Olympics went in for Finland.

I’m sure there is a huge list.

To be fair, if you are born in the USA, the competition to make the cut is kinda insane.
…and it’s not like Andy Mac has a great rep he is going to tarnish by going this route.

Its a shame for the local heads who get bumped out by someone posing but then again, maybe people in the Olympics ‘from the UK’ make it that bit easier for you and I to get a bit of park funding for our local?

Rune Glifberg was in the Tokyo Olympics at a similar age.

Don’t forget 46 year old (at the time, 50 now?) Jaguar fighting Dallas too! So the oldies are being represented.

Rune was in qualifications for this. As was Dallas.

Couple of rulers, them two.

Stoked Lola Tambling has qualified, she’s come so far in recent years.

The best thing is that Jagger Eaton didn’t qualify for park, even though he sat out the street event to concentrate on qualifying.

Also… why does Richard Tury remind me of a Wheeler from Return to Oz.

Yuto just made it in the end but Momiji, who won gold for women’s street last time, missed out, which is pretty surprising.

Union Jack on his shirt. Union Jack over his shoulders. SBGB cap. Proves he must be British after all.

Now I know Andy Mac only qualified as British because his dad’s next door neighbour once knew someone who thought about going to see an Austin Powers film or something. But I can’t help liking him:

“It’s what keeps me young,” MacDonald told Olympics.com when competing at the qualifiers in Shanghai last month. “You don’t get old and quit skateboarding. You quit skateboarding and get old. I’ve never stopped doing it. It’s my mental health, it’s my physical health. Whether I was competing or not, I’d still be doing it anyway.”

Jake Phelps quote, no? And also not true. Plenty of my favourite skateboarders don’t skateboard anymore.
