So in the end as @anonymity said the Olympics were basically just another Street League event. They won’t make curb skating and 360 flips less fun but we probably indirectly get a lot of new skateparks through that these days and a lot of people will see us differently. Sure, I started skating because it was not football or hockey or any of that stuff but I’m cool with not being seen as a vandal when I’m skating car parks in my late 30s.
Milou got robbed but he seemed stoked so more power to him, and I’m glad Yuto won. He’s definitely a Street League skater like Jagger, Kelvin and some others but he also films legit street parts, hangs with Worrest and does padless 540s on vert. I’d rather have him than Nyjah or Giraud as our “ambassador”.

Same. Yuto took it and the commentary was mostly shit. Didn’t miss anything unexpected.
Yuto’s best tricks are always overscored for me. Nollie 270 lip etc. I always think doing a flip trick in is harder because the board leaves your feet. Yuto is so comfortable skating nollie that I think some of those tricks come fairly easy to him. There seems greater risk involved in flipping your board.
Also, did the wind play a massive part? Seemed like those skaters who like to flip into grinds and slides for their big tricks struggled (Nyjah, Aurelian etc.), whereas those not doing flips in did well (Yuto, Kelvin etc.)

Yeah not interested in watching anything in a sports/competition format even when the sport is skateboarding. If it’s got judges and a podium I’m out.
Love Yuto though he’s so adorable.

Nollie 270 Nose is so fucked up to get into…But whilst the boardslide version is easier (lol), have you ever tried it? It is so completely blind until a point far later than the ollie version. You cannot see what you are hitting until right as you land on it. It relies so much on trust.
Oh, and no, I’ve not tried it on a rail. Not claiming. Just fucked about on kerbs with his tricks to see how mad they are.

Stoked for Yuto. Vincent Milou looked the most proper skater and had the gold medal fit. Apparently Nick Boserio was doing the Australian TV commentary.

Just watched it all. The only person with a nice style was Yuto so I’m glad he won.
It was even more bone dry than I expected. They could do away with most of the park eh. Just have a 8, 12 and 15 stair rail so they can ignore the smaller ones and only do stuff on the massive ones.
You don’t get much skateboarding per minute with this format. It’s pretty boring even with them trying tricks down gigantic shit.
The funniest bit was that Peruvian boy doing a stinking 540 flip lip but because it was only on the smaller but still massive rail he got like 8 out of 10.
Judging was iffy, especially to the French boys but that’s the problem with judging skateboarding. It’s a stupid concept.
Commentary was quite good I thought. Wasn’t trying to dumb things down.
That Jagger boy looked like a right fucking twat. Good tricks but done stinking. The switch back 180 to 5-0 was mad and it got like 8 out of 10. Lol.
Filming was terrible.
I wanted to see that half cab nose to tail down the rail by full cab Colin from Brazil because that would be the closest thing to The Storm.
