Probably a mix of both going on with certain different tricks.
Not related to ledges but if you do a frontside flip but fakie, is it backside? Like the way nollie frontside flips are named so?
That’s a frontside half-Cab flip.
Wut?
ha ha.
A frontside 180 kickflip on flat is a frontside flip.
A frontside 180 nollie kickflip on flat is a frontside nollie flip.
Never heard that before. Sounds like its complicating it. How you come out of it shouldnt make a difference, its all your body position and how you you move in relation to the obstacle (which translated from coping/vert skating)
Hey, it’s just what I’ve seen and heard pros say over the years.
This. But it’s originally from surfing
and was naturally adopted by skateboarding to describe the same thing. Turn frontside facing the lip. Turning backside, back to the lip.
Fuck listening to pros, 200 years ago most of them wouldnt be trusted to milk a cow let alone be an authority on anything
Yeah I know my point is more like how a fakie backside flip is named backside but it’s the same trick when nollie but named frontside. In terms of body positioning. Probably not getting my point across well ![]()
I’m off to the Prissick jam for Bingo but there must be a Love Letters on it or something? If I had the time I’d hunt it out.
Is there anything better than Nigel not getting close to a medal?
I hope he gets booted from Nike.
Me, if I join in on the tricksplaining convo -

Hey c’mon, he’s grown and learned since then. Like Johan Stuckey, Kenny Anderson, Fetty Potter….
He hasn’t even done a congratulations post for Yuto. Such a Nigel…
Which is weird because I don’t doubt Nike had comments already written for everybody for whatever the result was.
“So glad that [NAME HERE] has won, and that we all had a great time here in Japan. Go skateboarding!”
Seeing nigels ego crushed on the world stage was great.
Seeing him no where near the podium on a world stage is gold .
Oh, gotcha.
Well, all fakie tricks (I think) are named after their forward moving counterparts whereas the other trick you are talking about is nollie. And those aren’t named after their reverse rolling brothers and sisters.
Although…nollie half cab flip gets thrown about, too.
The more I’ve thought about the fakie back tail it makes sense as fakie is the only scenario it happens and it makes sense from a perspective of what your regular stance is. Again, probably crap at explaining myself!
