Gonna watch this now in a min, sick to see Jude getting out there. Good filmer and good egg, well aye.
Yeah good tha, bloody good.
Jasper, tho. One of my all time favourites!
Nice. Sci fi fantasy and serious adult back to back. Today was a good day.
I was just about to post that. I watched it three times back to back. It’s going to be getting a bunch more rewinds. Dude is sick. I’m going out to find a spot to do wall rides to nose manuals.
EDIT: Today I managed to get three, (meaning I’ve got em down, eh ….nope
), back wallrides to nose wheelie over a pavement to front 180 off the curb - stoked. Took a while and my ancient front knee is giving me some shit for it now.
Anyway, this wasn’t meant to be a cmoac post. It’s a heads up to those of you who haven’t watched this guy’s part yet. It’s pretty fucking bananas to say the least. Do yourselves a favour and put aside two minutes of your time and give it a go.
I’ve had to ‘pause/play/pause/play’ quite a few of the tricks as they’re boggling. The opening , slappy style, ( it’s neither an ollie or a legit slappy cos you can’t slappy thin air), overcrook on a little flat bar whilst wearing ASICS runners kind of sets the wtf tone. I really want to trick list but don’t want to spoil it for you…
Thanks everybody, glad you enjoyed it!
That was absolutely great. Makes me want to think about thinking about wanting to skate.
What are the sitcoms?
Slough/the office
Croydon/peep show
Norwich/partridge.
Someone pointed out we could have done only fools and horses and I kicked myself as this is the first non overseas video we’ve done where Peckham hasn’t featured semi-heavily
Further info in caption, If the insta post works:
That was ace!
Little bit of Bukem & Erasure too.
Going to have to watch again (& again) to keep up with all the bits that caught my eye.
Three things I’d like to mention / ask about:
- The body varial / nose blunt slide (I think?) was nimble!
- How is the gent that face planted?
- Where can I get one of those monopole scooter things?
Cheers.
Just came to post that. Pretty sick, can relate to what he says.
I didn’t realise his career continued for so long after almost, I thought he retired earlier than 5 years ago.
Face plant was myself- fractured my skull in 4 place around the cheek/ eye socket and a fairly long lasting bad concussion.
I’ve got some plastic below my eye and some metal strips in my face and limited feeling on the right side of my face on my cheek and nose but aside from that I’m fine and recovered quite quickly.
Weirdly when the nerves first started to try to repair, something in my brain/body couldn’t work out how to process the feeling and when I put a cold glass to my lips It would give me the sensation of dripping ice cold water behind my eyes/inside of my cheek.
Scooter guy had a broom
Handle duct taped to a scooter that had the real
Handle broken off. He scooted past. Took a piss against the hoarding on a main road in front of traffic then told us to get a job and scooted off.
The broom handle kept coming loose
I’ve spent so long basking in my once-removed 15 minutes of fame that I’ve neglected to comment on the fantastic akwasi video.
That section was truly amazing. It felt like watching the magic of that Corey Glick frontside 270 wallie to back noseblunt down the hubba- but just over and over and over again, in borderline every single clip.
Shocking to see someone with the ability to do a cab flip fakie wheelie AND have the crazy slappy wallie stuff.
Absolute control. No faking the funk.
Bloody hell - that is savage, I’m glad you’re alright now. Definitely made me wince.
Ha! Classy.
Fantastic edit @Gconroy
After reading post about the links to TV shows, was the second song used as a link to the final episode of The Office when Dawn comes back for Tim?
Yes, exactly that.
I wanted to echo the triumphant feel good end of the series with the end of the edit. Like a positive resolution to all the trips to industrial estates and business parks in the cold over winter, similar to Tim’s eventual happy ending with dawn despite his setbacks and mundane, mildly depressing surroundings
Edit(again): the instrumental is actually made by a guy I found on YouTube who bought the Synthesiser that the original yazoo song was recorded with, by Vince Clarke, then found the settings that the sounds were programmed to from scans from an old music magazine article and reworked the song to a pretty much pitch perfect recording of the original track, sans Moyet.
Track and description:
I thought the unnecessary use of antiquated technology to achieve something which could be easier recreated with modern technology to be a good parallel to the use of filming skate videos with the vx1 still, which reinforced my desire to use it.
-also with no Moyet there’s no copyright frustration on YouTube so I knew I could get away with it easier and I’ve been really into videos using well known songs this year, as like a kick back to videos only using obscure copyright free tracks in edits and never recognising anything as a ‘classic’ track, used well in a video anymore
Sorry, I’ve taken over the thread with long answers atm. Put a lot into this video
Al Hodgson joins jacob Harris and Quentin Guthrie in the pantheons of uk based videographers that surpass the average sponsored skater in terms of talent, while working full time jobs (except maybe JH who I don’t think has a 9-5) and putting the majority of their focus into filming others.
Great part. Great man
You are correct that I don’t but I also don’t have anywhere near the amount of talent as either Al, Q or Jake.
Been on a trip this last week so missed so much skateboarding content. Going to try and binge it all before bed tonight. However, I watched Al’s part this evening and it made me so happy. What a gent!
