No, I originally knew them as one footed ollies. The popularity of them rose at the same time as the Iran Contra affair and a mag, I think TWS maybe, captioned a one foot photo with ‘Ollie North’ for a joke. Then, just for a blip of only a couple of months, it kind of caught on. Although when we used it it was definitely tongue in cheek. By the time Shackle and Sick Boys were on heavy rotation I’m pretty sure the nicknaming had run its course and one foots were back and all was right with the world - until that game upset the applecart.

What’s even weirder to me is that most kids of the newer generations can’t skate switch at all. I know some kids who do gnarly shit (backside kickflips down serious stair sets and shit like that) but couldn’t do a decent switch kickflip on flatground to save their lives. It’s like skating switch is just for boomers these days. Whatever, switch mongo is how I always did it and how I’ll keep doing it. I’m kinda surprised we still use the word mongo by the way. Not blaming anyone, just surprised we haven’t found another name (yet).
