Yeah, despite Gonz coming up with the name, (which admittedly even seemed a bit daft for him), and having a super good team - Koston, Guy, TX, Antonio Durao, Miles, Magnus Bordewick and Kyron, it still managed to fall flat on it’s arse. It did have that ‘tax right-off’ vibe from the get go though. The lame product and very little video output along the way can’t have helped.

It really was embarrassingly shit. I recall lots of conspiracy talk about Numbers being a Nike-funded vehicle to draw skaters away from brands like Crail to further destroy their market share. See also Skate Mental.
I love a conspiracy but I think it was only ‘funded’ by Nike in so far as Koston and Mariano’s wages were so huge that they could waste 100s of k on that half arsed shit.

I think 917 and Frog with their Nike association, and Polar, because of the apparent Converse backing,(also owned by Nike), were lobbed into that conspiracy mix too weren’t they.

Numbers was so derivative. It just tried to nab a little bit of whatever, at time, was going on in skating that was seen as “cool” around the then new/popping small brands.
Square shapes and embossed graphics via FA/Hockey.
Minimalist and collage based graphics which copied Isle and Quasi’s homework.
Where is Kyron? Is he still doing the skateboards?
